Children, I believe those would be conversational phrases.

An ASL idiom would be something like "true-business" or "I, I, I "

"People Talking About it all over Town"

How to sign: open hand to a closed "o" hand moving around in circle in front of you. Signing the word "chat" in a circle

That also is not an ASL idiom and all three of these people are new!!:eek3:

What is happening????????

That's not an idiom that's a sign. Idioms are typically a combination of two signs, for example: mind+freeze or mind+escape.

I don't think they are coming back to learn it.
That is the weirdest thing, three people new in two days giving non-examples of idioms.

It's like the Twilight Zone.

Class assignment

Hi We are all ASL first year students and we had an assignment to find ASL idioms, we were supposed to look on ASLpro.com which gave us these examples which appear to be wrong :aw: but i am really interested in learning could you please tell me exactly what an idiom is??

Ah... aslpro...

I myself being an ASL student, try not to put much stock into all of what ASLpro.com says. It can be a good reference but often times I find that it is not what I had learned in class (sign being different) or with it only being a small clipped video than a full class, some meaning is lost in translation. Best to ask those who use the language than anything else.

So Bott, give us some idioms! smiles

Yay! Thank you Bottesini :) I learned #4 in class. seems to be a tricky one, least the class had some problems. But #2, it is letter "I" right? Not pointing to oneself repeatedly? Just for clarification for myself :)

Basement means Stayed home

Fish means I am done

"I,I,I" yes is done as the letter not pointing to self.
