My dad is strong man and support family, but he isn't afraid to cry if he's touched or upset about something. I grew up believing that it's ok for men to cry, but still be strong for family. My ex husband only cried twice in 19 years I was married to him...when his family dog died and when we separated. He never cried at funerals or anything. I think it was because he was taught that men don't cry or they would show "weakness." My current husband Dave cries when he's upset about something or hurt...he rarely ever yells. I love that about him and he reminds me of my father. My Dave is sooo gentle that when he hurts, he cries but tries not to. He truly cares in his heart!!! awww I looove him soo much!

AJ, nothing is wrong when you cry...it means you truly are in touch with your feelings instead of keeping it inside like some people may have told u to. Lots of women prefer men to cry than keep it in...why? cuz this shows them that men really DO care.

Yes it is normal.

I was aghast to see Prince William and Prince Harry didn't cry at their Mother's funeral. :ugh:

Yes, they cried after learn terrible news... It took Prince Charles to comfort them...

Yes, they do not cry in the public but in the church. Photographers, Film, etc are asked to not take pictures of them in the church because they want private.

My hubby cries at funerals and also something what he feel hurt...

American men, historically, have held back tears because of so-called "macho values" but I learned many years ago that to keep emotions bottled up is harmful to our health and psychologists will agree with that. An otherwise strong man will let the tears flow as a result of some powerful event such as in sports, relationships, firemen rescuing people from the Towers after the terrorist attack of 9/11, and yes, even in religious settings. The thing with many men is that they worry about what others will think...that it will lower their status or self-esteem but that's all in the head and not real.

Heath, not to pick on you but you know more about the inner workings of guns and ammo than you do your emotions. Let me assure you that you won't lose face over some spilt tears during or after some profound event. Heath, even Jesus wept in John chapter 11 when Lazarus died.

Men crying daily at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem should not be the only place where it is acceptable for men to cry!

Be strong, cry when it's called for and you will feel a lot better.

Yea... man can have cry for any reason but not required on public though.

To see a man cry is a turn on for me :naughty:

Psst, I do cry also in front of my gf. There's nothing wrong with that, it shows the real emotions of something gone bad or something like that. It's not ok to hold back. :nana:

heck, even Rambo cried too.

Rambo cried for a very good reason. I don't even remember Rambo crying like what guys do today crying at the drop of a hat.

I think many, many women find it digusting to see a full grown man cry.

The only time it is ok to cry is if a man lost somebody. I have seen guys weeping openly at their mother's funerals or somebody was killed in a car accident or during wartime.

Guys should know when it is ok to cry or not.

Today I see many guys and all I see is a baby and not a man who takes care of business then go off alone in the distance then come back stronger than ever.

Who's talking about the "drop of a hat"? Not me, sheesh

It's perfectly normal/ok for a man to cry. I've seen my bf cry. It's healthy to cry.

Yes I have seen him cried sometimes in magazines etc... He cried for her daughter's health...

No True, many women don't like "macho" image because their "hard" feeling and image turn many women off. It make women feel good to see their men crying because it shows them that they have feeling.

I see no problem for the men crying for many reasons because they have feeling.

Many of us do not consider men crying as baby because men have emotions.

:ily: AJ, I think it's absolutely fine when a man cries, especially under the circumstances of the Columbine Program you were watching. Men are human too, of course they are going to cry, and it doesn't mean they are less stronger, it means they have a heart! Don't ever feel that you're less of a man because you showed some feelings and emotions by crying AJ, it's perfectly fine! :ily:

Of course, if you saw a t.v. program where there were some powerful events and you are alone then that is your business. No need to admit that. If you are in front of company guests then comfort the ladies first as needed and once company guests leave then that will be all your own business wheter you cry or not.

Don't speak for us women, You have no idea how we feel, Most women love it when a men cry because it shows that they have feelings just like women do. I don't like men who doesn't cry, because those men who don't cry are careless about feelings.

my husband cried.. during his grandfather's funeral. Also he cried when our son was born. He was soooo cute when he cried, it just melted my heart to see him being emotional.

I don't see anything wrong for men to cry. Its okay to have them out of emotion which not help themselve. I don't see anything to not to cry, not make them real man.

if C.C. Sinned tells me its alright to cry, i think id feel better about it.

it just feels like im doing something wrong when i cry. like i feel guilty for crying.

and heath u mentioned something about men crying at their mom's funeral, i use to cry A LOT for my mom for a lot of years. not so much anymore. maybe once in awhile.

I believe guys should cry alone in private. I am not gonna follow every little new trend that is out there because alots of it makes guys look really stupid. Today we have so many guys acting like girls. Think for yourselves, guys !!! Be strong !!!!
:wtf: Gad, Heath! This is 2006. Men and women should be alike. I don't mean in a fashion way but emotionally. To me , I think you still believe that men should be a bread winner, that men should work and women should stay home to have food hot -n- ready when men get home from work, that only women should take care of child(ren) when diapers get soiled, that women should wear dress - not jeans, etc. This is so old fashioned! If men cry, so what! After all, men are human just like women except the genitals!!
