I have a pair of new Unitron Next E HP hearing aids that I would like to sell. We bought these for $3000 six months ago and my son had no response to wearing them. He only wore them once to be tested in a sound booth to determine his eligibility for cochlear implants- thankfully he was a candidate and was implanted almost 8 months ago at less than a year old and is talking already! The hearing aids were tested individually by the audiologist in syracuse to make sure they were working and they worked perfectly. You will need to take them to your hearing aid professional and have them set to your levels and you will also need to get ear molds- warning- they are high power hearing aids and are set to the maximum level! I will send them with a pack of 8 batteries, 2 paris of replacement microphone covers (with tool) magnet reed switch activator for auto t coil, two user guides, drying beaker, a couple different cases, and a carrying bag for all of it. Also I still have a tube of oto ease, and a keychain battery tester. Send me a reasonable offer and I will consider it.

That's them. They are called the next e hp hearing aid. That is actually what they say on the hearing aid themselves.

So they can be programmed for two different programs? Is that plus the T-coil setting? Do you know if one program can be set for music, for instance, and the other for conversation?

I'm personally not interested (I like to have more programs than that), but there is someone on the boards here who might be, if he sees this.

I was thinking about $300 (10% what we paid for them) plus maybe $10 for shipping. If you are felling unsure I have the original recipts still showing what we paid and when they were purchased. They are still under warranty although I doubt that is transferrable. I can send you a copy of these via email if you want. I also can send a copy of the note from his audiologist saying the hearing aids are in good working order- to manufacturers specifications. If you would like I can also send a copy of his audiogram (he reads flatline to all noises at all testable levels- flatline is the term the dr used!) The audiogram was done via sedated ABR because this is the only way they could do it because he is so young (now 18 months) They are not childrens hearing aids- they did not have any strong enough in childrens models- but they are very small so they will be very discreet, they fit comfortably behind my sons ears when he was 8 months old. You will need to get your own ear molds and have them adjusted by your audiologist or hearing aid professional to fit with your audiogram.

Good news. I contacted unitron and they said they warranty is transferrable. It is good until 8/2012. Here is a copy of the email.

Just FYI I contacted unitron again and asked if someone buys them if there is anything I need to do to transfer the warranty or if it is automatically transferred over. I will post that email when they get back to me or I can forward them to you if you give me your email address.

Here is what unitron says regarding transferring the hearing aids under warranty.
Hello Cassie,

No worries - the warranty follows the devices, not the end user, so really there is nothing necessary on our end. If they ever are sent to our factory for any reason, we may updated the end consumer name at that time.

We however, strongly recommend and even insist, that whoever you donate them not wear them until they have been reprogrammed for their specific hearing loss. Because the hearing aids are now programmed for your son’s hearing loss, which is unique to him, it will not be appropriate (and could potentially be dangerous) to put on someone’s ears without refitting. They would need to see their Audiologist, of if they do not have one, we can certainly recommend someone in their area too!

It sounds like to me that you have been speaking with Helen Waters? If so, Have you ask her how to sell your HA? I have never heard of Unitron Next E HP hearing aids. The Hearing aids look funny to me. Perpahs try ebay or something like that.

helen waters is an audiologist in syracuse. The way Hearing aids designs look different than other hearing aid like otican or phonek. I was just finding this company that is different. Nothing personal. Banjo have a good suggestion.

I just re-read the original post and realized something. It was said that he only worn the hearing aids once and didn't respond to anything. If he only worn them once, why didn't you just return them? A lot of hearing clinics carry a flexible return policy. Usually around 60 days.

By the time we got a clinic appt after getting the hearing aids (2 different offices what a headache) 60 days had already passed! Scheduling everything is hard. My son has so many speech therapist appointments and dr appointments and appointments with the audiologists (4 hours away) to tweak his CIs and hearing tests. It is crazy but worth it a million times over for him

Frankly, I think you would be better off donating them anyway. There are a lot of children who need them but cannot afford them.

I would love to but I plan to put the money I hopefully get into a fund for gas money to travel 4 hours each way to Syracuse for appointments. Yikes. So expensive.

There are none closer who work with CI users. Jeff VanTassel is great to work with very knowledgeable and works in Syracuse.

People don't normally buy used HAs. You can donate them and take a tax deduction. Just be sure to get a receipt.

Actually, there's a pretty strong market for used aids. Just check eBay. You just don't see many, because their shelf lives are so short. Kinda like buying a used toaster, you're not going to take a big gamble. The HA industry discourages resales, why wouldn't they? Standard mark-up on new is from 100 to 300%! Further, most people think every case is vastly different, requiring just the right aid, when the reality is there are really only 4 or 5 different 'strengths' of aid, the rest is all just individual fine tuning. (plus all the bells and whistles that have developed in past years) But not everyone can afford new aids, and there are many who can't afford any....charitable groups will do a re-build and provide what they can. Every audi I've known would 'save' good aids to sell to clients who couldn't afford new... Like me. The US is the only country that turned hearing aids into precious commodity...it's a freakin transistor radio! LOL. A smart phone is way more complex... And free with a 2 year plan
