The Truth of Life:

Where Can We Turn for Truth instead of Just Facts?

Beliefs must be challenged if we are to grow

My home page began with the observation that our understanding of the truth is constantly evolving. We would have to be naive or arrogant for any one person or generation to think that they "know it all," and I'm not about to tell you now that I've got a lock on all the truth.

I will tell you though that I found my own beliefs challenged in a way I never would have expected. The experience changed me and gave me a perspective on life that I wouldn't trade. It made me more compassionate and understanding as a human being. It helped me to see how to bring joy, and not just pleasure, to life. It renewed my sense of wonder for the miracle of life that is all around us.

What causes a non-believer to believe?

had rejected religion and never believed in God, never really even cared, for that matter. All my life I've loved science and reason, and still do, but then had an experience that I could explain by neither. One day in 1993 I found myself so aware of God's presence, truth and love, that I either had to believe or find another answer. No rituals, no denominations, no church, no religion as I knew it. Just me alone one day with a Bible. It seemed, though, that God had spoken to me in the words of one person. I searched and studied for months to make sense of all that I "knew" about evolution, mankind and life, and found more truth in his words than in any scientific facts or theories.

Can his words challenge your views on life?
Who is this person? His name is Jesus. What does he say about truth and about know life? These are his words:

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."(John 14:6)

An extraordinary claim, to not only know the truth, but to be the truth, and the way to life and to God. He has been more misunderstood and misrepresented than anyone else in history, to the point that many of us want to reject him without ever coming to know much at all about him. But can you name anyone who has more influenced the world than Jesus? Even our calendar is marked by the time before and after his birth. How does one person have such an impact? Who is he? These too are his words:

Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" "I am," said Jesus. (Mark 14:61-62)

"I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me." (John 8:42)

"I and the Father are one." (John 10:30)

"If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well." (John 14:7)

Is Jesus just a man?

Jesus is thought by some to be a just great moral teacher, but would a great moral teacher lie about his identity or be so delusional? If he were just a kind, wise, wandering rabbi, why did they crucify him? If he were just a teacher, how is he able to transform lives with his words thousands of years later and create the experience of his presence, peace and love in an unbeliever?

Are we honest about what little we really know?

It's pretty easy to cast doubt on all of this, ignore it, or just run in the other direction. I know, because I did the same thing for years. But what then is your answer to the question of how we got here, why we're here and where we are going. Where is the truth found? Why does evolution take on such a self-righteous, religious posture on its "facts" when we really know so little about the origin of life from a scientific basis? No other branch of science takes that approach. Are we not more likely to find the truth if we humble ourselves before all that we do not know rather than to take pride in what little we do really know

Wouldn't God find a way to come to us?
Does God exist? Can one come to know God through Jesus? I believe so. Given my experiences and study, I now believe him to be who he claimed to be: The Son of God, the Messiah and Christ, sent to be our Lord and Savior, showing us the way to live life as God designed it to be.

"Until we know Jesus, God is merely a concept, and we can't have faith in Him. But once we hear Jesus say, "He who has seen Me has seen the Father" (John 14:9) we immediately have something that is real, and our faith is limitless."

And... the life? Making it clear, all I see is about God, Jesus, but what about our life in the Earth?

I am asking the same thing. The article talk nothing about the truth about our (people) life, except for Jesus and God's life.

I was sharing his story on here, how he found God on his own. it has nothing to do with me.

People share other people's story on AD, and You come in here start drama. I don't need your drama.

I'll give you one more warning I'll report you to the moderators.

Where does it say in this thread that this topic is to be debated--threads can be approached in many different ways. Hence, such as with this thread, creator's simply sharing a view...either respect it or simply refrain from quashing another member's views or in this case, sharing a link from another source. Otherwise, it's best to create your own thread--where it can be debated if that is your intent.
