By JFLMad

Summary: I want to clarify some misunderstood among us of how to use your FaceTime on your iPhone 4. We can use FaceTime to “videophone” only if both parties have iPhone 4 and also you can call vrs company on your iPhone4 using FaceTime as well! As of now, there are 2 vrs companies available to use and they are iZ by Zvrs and iwrelay. iZ don’t have an app as what iwrelay have and you have to dial the phone number to call iZ and it will charge you .40 cents per minute until iZ receive your call and they will hang up and call you back using FaceTime then it will be free from there. As for iwrelay, they have an app for you to download and you can place a call instantly on it and it’s free at all!, no hidden cost like what iZ does. Zvrs did not explain that .40 cents thing at NAD conference when they mentioned that they are the first company to make a change of using vrs service on FaceTime, they should of have doing that in the first place. I hope other that vrs company such as Purple, Sorenson and the others will develop their own app so that way we can have different choice which vrs company to use on FaceTime! Thanks!

To use their service:

For iwrelay, go to iTunes store and download their app (type iwrelay in search box) and follow from there. For iZ, call 866.323.2231 (866.32FACE1).
Using of VRS service in FaceTime on your iPhone4 Fookem and Bug

I refuse to dial ZVRS number to use Facetime on iphone. I can use IWRelay app to call it. I hope that Purple, Convo and others would develop new app to use Facetime.

Wow, thanks for sharing! I wonder how someone would react to that phone bill when using iZ service without application. Must be an expensive mistake not explaining clearly in the first place.

I called ZVRS customer service the other day. Just to be sure you are aware, it's not called iZ. It's called ZVRS on the iPhone4.

Two, it's a $.40 per minute before the call connects to the interpreter. You don't get billed while on the VRS call. When the call hits the 1 minute mark and an interpreter has not answered, the call will automatically disconnect so that you are only billed for one minute by AT&T. Also, this is only if you do not have voice minutes, if you have a voice plan for any reason, there is no extra charge.

I was also told that they would soon be releasing an App that will eliminate any charges. Personally, I would prefer to wait for that. ZVRS is a reputable company that has a proven track record. Not something I can say for IWRelay....yet.

+1

Honestly...how often will you use it? You might get charged an extra $3-$7 on your bill.
if I use .40 cents a minute about 15 times per month that's $6 and that's nothing to me. However, doesn't effect me at all cause I am not american. :laugh2: therefore, still nothing to me.

iZ is fail! iZ app is nothing for iPhone 4.

Considering how much hearing people pays for voice plans, and how often some of them use it, I would say 40 cents a minute for connecting call to be fair.

Amazing! I just worked to connect IWRelay VRS in FaceTime over 3g on my jailbreak (My3G) iphone 4. :D

+1 True, to be fair for these deaf people.

Guess what? I received an email from ZVRS. It said
"YOU ASKED, and we delivered: The first mobile VRS just got easier! ZVRS on iPhone 4 is even simpler to use with our new, FREE app. No phone number to call. No worrying about call charges. Download it now, and experience even easier communication freedom!" http://www.zvrs.com/z-services/video-relay-service-vrs/iphone

I'll get next gen iPod Touch with front camera for facetime is coming soon.
