Damn you Sorenson VRS!

They are setting up a new call centre in a city where I live in. The CHS already have lost an interpreting coordinator to them. It is negatively going to impact our needs for community service-based interpreters soon.

Because many DIs do not want to work for them. I have several good friends who are DIs in Ontario.

Urgh...

I hope we can get our own VRS centres to stabilise the job market from being outsourced.

I am speaking of Sorenson VRS setting up call centres across Canada including this city; therefore, they are taking away interpreters from our Deaf communities.

Not true. You gotta look at some European countries, especially Sweden. They have provided much better services for Deaf.

Please.. I born from Europe and visit there before.
I don't think European is better than USA.

Be careful what you say.

Plus I visit to Canada before and I have few friends who grow up from Canada.

But I never visit to Sweden before.

I do not buy it without fully convincing details and proof. Oh never mind you are not able to discuss them into details.

Last spring one professor who travelled around the world to collect data on Deaf communities made his presentation and he said some European countries do much better services and access to Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

Remember Europe is very popular than USA for text and data on their mobile so Euro deaf are very lucky. Mostly my side family who live in Europe and they use text more than voice.

I do not believe in lucks.

It is so important for us to have full access which is one of our universal human rights as Deaf and hard of hearing people.

I just found it and here a link about CC.

Screen Subtitling

Europe use PAL formats and USA use NTSC formats.

Quote:
PAL a special decoder is required as most PAL receivers do not support Closed Captions.
Can you explain to me which service that professor think some European is better?

I love to hear professor's story.

You also have no proof to us, also.

Duh!

I have convincing proof that I got from very reliable sources. Remind you that I have been very involved in some Deaf communities here and in other cities and that is how I have built up networking with leaders, academics and researchers in not only Canada, also U.S. and Europe.

Are you familiar with Deafhood that Genie Gertz, David Eberwein, and/or Nigel Howard presented? It is where I learned about the access and rights that the Deaf people in some countries in Europe have enjoyed.

Also, my friends and I researched on access and rights in Europe and we contacted some agencies there for more information and confirmation in the past.
