Here's a hot topic I'm sure I may end up banned from this site as well this post being censored or deleted but I don't care anymore I'm done with "Deaf Culture" I have no respect for that culture anymore due to the massive prejudice and inner-culture racism. Its offical ASL is a social retardation upon the Deaf culture weather they like it or not its a FACT provable heck I've always disliked the NAACP for keeping the racism alive etc. But they look perfect compared to Deaf Culture & Pro ASL freaks. Since they don't have so much inner racism like this culture does!! Now on topic...

SEE vs. ASL why you wonder... Easy let me show you why It's very critcal that anyone born deaf or being brought up and educated needs to be taught SEE first before taking on other languages thruout the deaf culture in order to avoid these issues mentioned in the next paragraph. They can stay in denial and accuse me of being biased or motivated to move them towards CI/HA/ speaking etc... Which is PURE BULLSH#T and they know it themselves deep inside if they actually have a reasonable logic thinking skillset. I've experinced the best of BOTH WORLDS so those accuscations hold no water at all.

Too many instances where ASL folks make no sense whatsoever to the average american /english speaking folk. Its sad that they don't notice it themselves because they ASSume they're speaking proper english or make sense to everyone when in reality they don't at all cept for their own socially retarded ASL partners/ cultures. It's outrageously embrassing since they act like it's all good and normal yet hearing people and real Americans are like WTF?!?! LMAO that dude is out of wack did he ever go to school or is he really DEAF and DUMB? Take a look at a few members it's easy to spot these very issues I'm talking about. Theres a user with a title as ASL GURU as well many ASL hardliners and pro deaf supporters with the same issues themselves that remain in denial, since they REALLY cannot see nor grasp that fact since they started off with ASL instead of SEE.

Guess what none of that ASL GURU user's posts make a damn sense at all. Too much ASL= socially retarded period. Thats's why they passed the rehab act to give parents the choice to bring their child into mainstream schools and ensure they don't suffer these consquences of being deeply immersed into ASL/ deaf culture as it's NOT the REAL world. But yes many love to use it as a crunch and remain in that world after school is out and even obtain jobs thruout the nation helping other deafies which is honorable to a certain degree but when they're purely doing it to help growth of the culture and ASL as well push their options and judge those who want to go the other route than ASL and Deaf Colleges etc..It's unacceptable and disgusting. Now let's watch the retards help retards by bashing the living hellva outta of this post brought to you by a profound hearing loss user since birth.

My last post and I'm not coming back ever again feel free to do what you want to with this information.

I have no problem at all with you posting this.

Your post shows you to be illiterate and unable to spell even simple fourth grade words.

So much for the advantages of SEE.

Interesting rant. And more interesting is that I have perfect English, and ASL was my first (and only) sign language. Not SEE.

As for ASL GURU (Smithtr), he has other issues besides deafness that may (and likely do) contribute to his use of English.

Yeah, he's Canadian.

j/k ;)

I doubt you'd get banned for debating SEE vs. ASL.

You might get banned (or at least warned) for picking on other members by name.

Doing a hit and run post is rather cowardly.

Well that was just tacky. I'm all for English literacy, but ASL is not a "social retardation for Deaf Culture". I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with a few bad seeds that you had to make such a sad post. That's what it is. It's a sad post. I feel sorry for you.

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Bold )

I'd like to request all ranters please bother to use spell check.

Also, if they're going to rant about some hoh/deaf/Deaf having crappy grammar ... Probably using a grammar-check would be helpful also.

Otherwise it's just too difficult to get past the irony, to take anything they say seriously (about poor spelling & grammar especially).

Rant & flee isn't really all that useful, aside from ascertaining the ranter's keyboard is functioning.

Dear GISJason:

Goodbye, and good luck!!!

(one of the socially retarded, illiterate ASL users here that don't make any sense)

I like the part about hearing people and real Americans.

I was taught SEE at first then i was introduced to asl when i was in high school through friends but stuck with SEE with teachers. Im comfortable with ASL . I learn more through ASL.

There are many threads about ASL VS SEE IN THIS FORUM.

Simply put... Wow. I'm kinda wondering what brought this out of this poster, but then again I really don't care. No one should have such deep seated hatred for something they don't understand. ASL is not meant to be english. Sure it's uses english words and everything, but he's pretty much bashing on a language like spanish or japanese. I guess he didn't know that ASL is suppose to be another language. I wonder if he would tell a Chinese language speaker they're not speaking english correctly. SEE (i've been informed) is suppose to act like interpretation for ASL, just like you would get an interpreter for any other language... I guess that's why I think it's important to understand a different culture and language equally to prevent people from being ignorant and simply put...making a$$e$ of themselves.

^^

ASL and English/SEE (Signing Exact English) are two distinct languages, both equally valuable and should be equally respected.

Oopsie! SEE is not a language.

Oopsie! SEE is not a language.

It wasn't an "oopsie"... ASL is a language, English is a language... SEE is another mode of English.

GISJason, never call us retarded and ASL is not a socially retarded. You are the most obnoxious and moron I have ever met. If you want to leave, then fine with me. I could not care less. ASL is going to stay without SEE. Good luck out there.

I sign SEE more than I sign ASL. It's more of a habit of mine. It's slower, but have found it useful whenever I do write/type anything. Seems it keeps my English grammar more intact, since being totally deaf for 50 years without a HA or a CI.
