What's Your Biggest Frustration in the Tech World?

Go for it. Someone told me that if you cannot explain something clearly and concisely, then you do not know what the hell you are talking about.

To keep it very simple, basic household electricity is electrons hopping from one atom to another atom. That is electricity in a nutshell. We take advantage of that "hopping" to run household appliances.

I think I read about being able to put a number of photos on the scanner glasws at once but have VueScan create separate files for each. It seems to me that might speed things up some.

I've been looking for something similar as there's so many pictures I eventually want to scan and catalogue digitally (including old photos from ancestors) or at least a small portable scanner with maybe a USB drive or some way to upload to cloud (although for my needs I'd need a large amount of GB....) as currently the scanner is in one room and MY computer is in another lol.

And I take it your computer and the scanner are not on a network. Also, that your computer is not a laptop that could easily be taken into the room where the scanner is.

Would you need that much cloud storage? I am thinking of using that storage of a place to scan it to and then download it to your own hard drive(s) for long term storage.

Yep. Them ladies do make us hop to it, don"t they?

Good answer. You a nuclear physicist? Lol. I am impressed, though. :)

Even you hold a charge! (Static electricity)

*SNAP*

LOL . No. I just am interested in how things work so I tend to watch tv shows telling how they think things work and etc.

We sure live in a very fascinating world.

No.. EVERYTHING is on the home network. The scanner we have is actually part of the big printer/scanner/fax (I think? gotta look). And physically attached to dad's computer. My computer is in another room. I guess I could use his Mac (and he's said it's ok) but I don't feel right in doing so. I also have a Mac Laptop (and a Dell laptop but that may be going away soon.. got it in 2008 so SLOW). There is a LARGE trunk full of my parents' family pictures - would be a lot easier to bring the scanner to that. Ditto with all the pics downstairs though those are easier to bring up as they're in books (and mine are in a box...).

I don't know... it's hard to judge just how many pics there are PLUS the ones I already have on my 2 pcs and 2 laptops... not to mention the ones I currently can't get off one of my (internal) hard drives that I used as a backup.

As it is, most free cloud storage don't offer enough (I am already close to the limit for Apple's I think) and cannot afford a yearly subscription for ANYTHING right now (including a web host I'd like to do for a portfolio type website with resume).

For now it's all on the back burner anyway.. I just swipe a few pic here and there when parents aren't looking (otherwise I will get "what are you doing?" "Why?" :P) but most of my time should be spent job huntin' and working on my coding skills.

Not sure if I made my idea clear. What I was thinking of was using the cloud storage as a temporary parking place. Scan to the account in the cloud, then download from there to your own hard drive. Delete what is in the cloud storage. Then scan some more to it. Download that batch and repeat until down.

But it now looks to me like you may have a way to scan directly to your own hard drive(s).

Sort of yes, "easy" enough to scan pics from the all in one printer/scanner from the LED panel and tell it to send to my PC. It's just a pain in the ass to do for my own reasons.

What kind of barriers?
I come up against all kinds everyday for the most part I figure it out Ori just say I wear a hearing aid and I just can't understand you I do this to people that talk fast and long winded In ask them to just answer questions I ask them and surprisely they answer better even coclear implant not perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than hearing aids
