Hi! I'm a hearing student who is interested to know what type of helpful gadgets would make the everyday easier for the hearing impaired. I know there are vibrating alarms and such, but what would be something that would be useful?

I would love a smart watch with a vibrating alarm that is actually intense enough to wake me. To replace the under the pillow bed shaker.

A visual alert for a running car would be helpful as well. Newer cars, with keyless starts, don’t always ‘feel’ on. I’ve left mine running in the garage.....thank goodness for my hearing dog alerting me to the issue. A wearable device that visually displays auditory signals in the environment could be cool....to see sound such as a car running, a water faucet on or a bicycle approaching from behind on a trail.

I just got a Sonic Alert Traveler alarm- I was worried that the thing wouldn't wake me. It does. The difference is that this one is 12v while most vibrating travel alarms are only about 6v. Been using it for 3 weeks now and even though I prefer light flashers (no lamps here and I'm not buying one!) it's doing the trick for me.

two more months though lol.

this is the one I got--

I came across this Invisible Clock II (Vibrating 12 Alarm Pager TT12-0SQ) while doing my research on what to best give my niece. I found it interesting because you can set up to 12 alarms; this is very useful especially for taking medications, meetings, presentations and many more.
