What did you learn today? Part II

And a good vehicle? Would you be prepared to help your neighbors before taking off? A lot is involved in being prepared.
Sometimes our vehicle is good, sometimes not. We try to keep them in good running condition. I also don't let my gas get below half a tank.

Our neighborhood has a Facebook account for the residents. We share preparation and safety tips on there. If we notice any of our neighbors need help with something we pitch in. Right now, TCS and I are probably in the eldest group that ironically would be the ones needing help rather than giving it. Maybe that's why we keep prepared; we don't want to burden anyone else. I can't run and jump or do heavy lifting anymore, so I need to be prepared.

Just learned that Toy R Us and Babies R Us closed down where I am. Turns out that they filed bankruptcy.

I learned that my friend/coworker is now teaching a 2nd Grade class instead of being an aide (?) in a Kindergarten class. She started out the school year with the Kindergarten class.

I learned that there's a "hard hat" tour of Ellis Island.

I learned that Jesse Jackson has Parkinson's Disease.

A friend lost everything in an apartment fire last week. He told me today he found out his roommate lied about receiving a check from the Red Cross and felt like knocking his teeth out. Sigh. I'll help him out IF he listens to me.

I hope your friend is OK.

He will be. He is staying with a married couple with a child. He has to be out on Monday.
Don't worry, he will be fine.
I'm glad that he escaped the fire, although he lost everything. No insurance?

Nope. He got second degree burns on his hands from trying to extinguish the flames and it touched me to see white blisters on a black man's hands. He refused treatment and I am not surprised. He is still working as a bad-assed cook in a joint and we go way back. He is still SOOOO sheepish it was his space heater that started the fire, but hey, it happens, right? Hah, rarely does one get this chance to lord it over a friend, but I will milk it for all it is worth. ;)

You got me scared about using my electric log heater! I have to use it everyday in winter time. Not enough heat from radiators.

I learned iPhone battery is short lived. Always have plug in for more juice lol

I sometimes miss having a Walkman :D

That packing and moving is exhausting. It's not even 8 pm and I'm ready to fall asleep!
