How do you meet other gay deaf people?

Any Deaf friend willing to show you the sign for straight buttsecks would also be willing to show you the sign for gay buttsecks. But yeah, an open community where you can discuss such things would make it less awkward.

=)
Wait, there are multiple signs for butt sex depending on whether it's straight or gay? Isn't butt sex just butt sex regardless of who's involved?

Depends on the the anatomy of the receiving person, actually. In the sign, the pinkie is extended to represent a penis if the bottom has a penis. If the bottom doesn't have a penis, the pinkie isn't extended.

=D

DeafDucky, just want to wish good luck with the job search. My hub <hoh/deaf, grew up oral, no sign> is also in IT. He's a very techie/EE type guy.

Thank you... it's been a long <mumbles> few years lol.

Plus it might be nice to have a gay guy teach me signs appropriate to gay stuff. Like asking a straight friend what the sign for butt sex is might be awkward.
LMAO... I know of a few gay/bi guys who would probably know. And there are a few youtube videos out there showing LGBT signs though I'd avoid the ones made by hearing... many of them are not correct. I'm not sure if my close friend's video is viewable on youtube- though I know for sure his doesn't include buttsex lol.

What kind of IT work do you do? Are you in desktop, networking, systems analysis? I have a lot of friends in IT where I live. My best friend is an network specialist for Ames. He knows a bunch of people in the IT field around here. If moving is something you'd be comfortable with, I could look around and see what's up here. And I could gauge how Deaf friendly they are.

My experience is all in QA Testing. Most of it is manual and Mainframe (yes COBOL mainframe- many large companies still use it as a back end more and more now). Some automated testing and web testing. It's why I'm looking to do a coding bootcamp- I know basics but having something like that on my resume may help. Of course... the one I was accepted to (originally July, but deferred to October)... is now closing damnit.. :( . Just as well my finances are extremely tight- gofundme is stalled and still waiting on VR too. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated- and yes I'm comfortable with relocating (my family isn't but they'll live lol- I'm single so it's why I'm more comfy)

Hmm I never saw that but then I've not been around deaf or gay that much lately in the last I don't know how many years. I learn most of it from my deaf LGBT friends lol.

One thing I have mentioned in other threads is if there isn't a community near you, why not try to create one yourself. Sometimes others are just waiting from someone to start. Create a meetup group and see if anyone wants to join.
So I took your advice here and stated a Meetup for people learning ASL in and around my area. In less than 24 hours 6 people have signed up. So I guess you were right. People were just waiting for someone else to do it.

Excellent! Glad you gave it a shot.

Just a tip about meetup...
A lot of people signup for meetup group but never attend. One of the local ones here had over 200 members yet most of them we never met. Since the amount you are charged is based on the number of members, you might want to add an attendance policy, e.g. if you haven't attended a meetup in x number of months you will be removed.

Curious, are the 6 GLBT or it was open to anyone?

Definitely opened it to everyone. I couldn't see getting enough people with just LGBT.

I kind of figured that would be the case. They usually start out well, but slow down over time. Like people are exited in the beginning but once the novelty wears off.

Good to about the time limit. At least I'm not paying extra just to have lurkers.

I was wondering this. I know that in my area I've only come across about 3 deaf gay people. I've met them through Scruff, Grindr, and I have 2 deaf guys who dated friends of mine. (If you ever want, I can tell you the horrible story of what a hearing friend of mine did to his b/f who was deaf. It'll definitely piss you off.) But there have to be more than just those 3-4 in my area. I live in a small city. There are no Meetups for deaf people. It took me years to even find an ASL class in my area.

So how do you meet other Deaf gay people? At this point, in my limited experience, it seems impossible. I just don't know how y'all do it.
I am a gay hearing man who is learning ASL and I'm looking for other gay men who are Deaf or hearing and who know ASL who might be interested in helping me get better at this. If you know of anyone, please have them write me at Ricciotti@aol.com. Thanks. My name is Chris.
