I'm using a Cochlear Nucleus 5 (cochlear implant) for half a year now and I've been struggling to have great audio quality at my phone calls.

My wish would be to connect the smartphone to the Nucleus 5 wirelessly the same way the 3.5mm jack would do. I've been searching online but I've not found a great solution yet. I've read about telecoil but, as far as I've read, my smartphone is M3T3 and I therefore would have good telecoil but I only can listen to my phone on calls by directing the phone's speaker to my Nucleus 5 microfone (I think the telecoil system isn't working here, right?)

Summary: For the ones having a cochlear implant, how do you use it with your smartphone? Is there any great wireless way of connecting the smartphone to the cochlear implant for answering calls and (maybe listening to music)?

Hi, My Name is Mike, Two years ago I had a Nucleus 5 and upgraded to the Nucleus 6, and found my hearing improved also the sound quality was much better. I know they are pricy but the upgrade is worth it in my humble opinion. I know the Cochlear store has an attachment (freedom accessory adaptor) that may be what your looking for that clops to your processor and jack your MP3 player ect. into it.

The Nucleus 6 has a hands free wireless phone clip unit that pair's to your phone.

Hi Mike. First of all, I'm grateful for your answer, very useful :) I was implanted in Europe so the government payed me the cochlear implant. Can you tell me how much the upgrade from 5 to 6 would cost? (on a round number for sure). The freedome acessory adaptor would still obly me to use a wire to connect to my smartphone I guess.

With the Nucleus and its hands free wireless phone clip, the difference is that I can put the phone clip inside a pocket and not on my neck right?

Thank you again Mike :)
