Had a $3k debt with Telstra, which I'm still paying off. Should be done sometime next year.

Will have around $20K debt after I graduate from uni, however, I am planning to open a high-interest savings account early next year so I can put some money away in order to reduce the $20K debt with a lump sum payment, so that it can be paid off quicker, rather than having to pay it off for the next 10 years.

Its better to pay off your debts before you invest money. Those high interest banks will disappear soon. AIG was 4-5% saving interest and they are gone now. Soon others will lower their interest rates.

Always pay off your debts before you begin saving or anything. Its very difficult to do both and you will have budget buster.

Now you know why I don't have much saved up. I'm always trying to pay off debt........ Some of that is business debt! No Hawaii for the whole family until all debt is paid off. Great incentive!!! Wooooo Hooo.

************,

Please keep it up with your "informicals", "tibits" and "helpful tips". I LOVE reading your posts. I always learn something or at least affirm what I know with what I read. Thank you, as always.

Perhaps you given me idea Mortgage Tibits, or Financial Tibits... there a catch with the wording. I will bring that up in Deaf Financial Education Center's board meeting.

I have to wait until Board meeting is established when all board are hired. We have few slot still open. None of Gallaudet Professor nominate have joined us yet. Know anybody?

From there, we will do a lot of those things. I am not investor, or financial planner. However, I can show you a lot of tips of how to save money and go around. I am sure DFEC will have team to develop more tips how to save money on utilities, gas, dining out, food shopping, clothing, the ultimate wants and needs etc...

Yet I still love your ideas of Tidbits. Its something for us to work on. Short term and long terms. I am still waiting for approval for Mortgage Blog that I am pending on. Once switch bank, I will seek for more approvals regard of compliance. Blah!

Same with RichardDeaf. I have no debt, either. When I bought a townhouse 5 years ago, which I paid in full. So, again, I have no debt.
I feel so bad about my neighbor's friend who just lost everything what she has. Now, she's homeless and she is staying at my neighbor's place until she gets back her feet. It's scary.

The only debt I have left is a little less than 165.00 from the visit to the emergency room in 2007. I assumed it was paid for until I received that dirty letter from the collecter. I will pay it off once I received the bill from the hospital.

Nice financial break. Only few will get that experience, majority will have to work hard to pay off their homes.

Consider yourself blessed.

ASL video

I know USA Economic is getting worse and worse, and I noticed many people were laid off from company.... I have a chance to meet many people through coffee shop where my husband is owning. Many customer tells him what happened recently.... I feel so hurt for them, and keep praying for them..
My best friend, Japanese moved to Philippine for job. If her husband refuse to go to Philippine,he had to be lay off, so he decided to move there with his whole family including 2 children. I really miss her since she wanted to learn ASL from me.

This is good website that explains you how to free debts!!

It's never is good to be in any debt for anyone those days!

Great that some of you were doing good at it and hope for others to make it out.

Mine... Had three debts but one was paid off last year while a second one will be paid off by next month (just found out last night - pah!) then there is one more debt to pay off by next year or before likely.

Then hope there shall be no more debt pinning on me and you all no more!

Thanks for providing few links I will check out and look forward for more information and tips. Hope for several more members will involve and share more ideas in this personal finance forum in the near future.

It seems like no fun to get letter from collector.

Recently, my hearing sister told me that she heard on the news that the elected-president Obama will announce that all home owners will get a three percent of house mortgage instead variety of percents from their bank.

I finally got a letter from collection for one doctor bill. I never got the bill for two years (or so) until I got a letter from the collection agency, so I paid off $200 something dollars. Geez. I don't understand why they can't find me somewhere by checking my ssn. Stupid.

Mortgage is part of your debt you pay. If you don't have any debt, that means no house loan, car loan, credit card debts, etc. You got a house to pay, which is your debt.
