Rental -V- mortgage, HOA and taxes are about the same.

The valuer had informed me that there are many condos similar to mine is 450,000. I guess I got a winner and 70,000 richer in equity and possibly higher when I fix up my new property

Do your shopping around and good luck.
$380,000!? Damn, that's a lot!

That's more than my parent's house!

the condos in seattle metro area range from about 100,000 to over 2,000,000. yep, that's a gigantic gap in prices. typically most condos in downtown seattle average 300,000 to 400,000 or so.

i own a town house.. and pay cheap HOA fee $100 a month.

kalista.. tax-deductable.. it depends how much interest you pay.. its not always work that way.

some people pay mortgage and couple interest.. and found out its not tax-deductable because they didn't reach their standard decductable.

so be careful about this.

Oh, that's fucked up.

There's numerous of townhouse, apt and condo in vally area of LA, that where my parent live in this place and price is started at $300,000 or up for roughly 2-3 bedroom and 1-2 bathroom, depends on square foot and architecture but most are built in 70's and 80's, even in 90's and 2000's.

HOA = Home Owners Association. When you own a property that comes with HOA, you are required to pay fixed monthly fee for maintaining everything, streets, lawn mowing, fencing, swimming pools, gyms, recreational parks and everything.

If you have a back yard fence which was damaged by a fire. Call HOA and they will replace the area of damage or the whole fence, if lucky

Hahaha, youre missing out everything. I guess youre Deaf and first home buyer. You are entitled to the 4% mortgage via Guild Mortage at Las Vegas. Guild Mortgage receives funding from Fannie Mae for distribution. Previous homebuyers do not.

I get chuckled after many Deafies ask where do you get 4% from and I cant believe they are living under the carpet and didn't know anything.

Put your head up and do a search in Google. 'Homechoice' 'disabled' 'mortgage' and you will get many hits

yeah it all depends where you live the enviroment, the workplace, the popularity, etc...

the city i used to live in willmar, mn brand new 1,500 sq ft home with 3 bd room 2 baths cost $120,000 and its unfinished basement, you can expand yourself in the basement.

place where i live right now.. brand new home 958 sq feet, unfinished basement, 3 bedroom, 2 baths for $149,000 if you finished the basement it can go up from 958 sq feet to 1,400 sq feet. possible add 1 bedroom and/or 1 bathroom.

and its only 1 hour away from big Metro area Minneapolis/st. paul.

so thats cheap.. if you live in minneapolis/st. paul area.. brand new homes can be $250,000 to $500,000 for the same size as the area where i live.

I agree, that's very high. It all depends on the location.

My house is 2,100 sq. ft, 4-bdrm, 2 1/2 bath, 2-car garage, many improvements and extras; market value about $180,000 now. Our HOA fee is $100 per year. If we want to use the community pool, it's another $100 per season (April-Sept).

Condos in this area are more expensive if they are near the beach. If they're not near the beach or golf course, then they are cheaper.

Yes, I agree it all depends on locations. However, my city is Irvine which is in Orange County, California which was voted the most safest city in US as stated by the FBI and its the most exclusive suburb in Orange County. Most single houses starts from average 1 million to beyond. Duplex houses starting from 600,000 and upwards and condos starting from 430,000 and up.

Its very close to Newport beach and other beaches along the coast.

I am surprised that you have HOA on your property. How many house developments are on the property? Your house doesn't look like HOA to me. Beside, it is a nice house.

All the single family house subdivisions in our area have HOA's. The fees go mostly for maintaining the subdivision entrances and common areas. The high end subdivisions (gated communities) use their fees for gate security also. We also have several pages of covenant restrictions, such as no semi-trucks parked in the neighborhood, number of pet restriction, architectural review board, etc. We have 450 single-family houses in our subdivision. (Excuse me, I think the newer subdivisions prefer to be called "communities", especially if they have a golf course nearby. La, de, da.) Many of the "communities" around here are also called "plantations" because they are built on land that used to be real plantations.

Condos (apartment and townhouse) in this area usually call their fees regime fees or condo association fees.

Thank you.

My brother still lives in Connecticut, and he says I must live like the Dukes of Hazzard because I live in South Carolina. (Nah, my Dodge Charger was a '72, and Hubby's was a '73, not '69 like the Duke boys' had.)

How about crappy old houses in inner city like Detroit? I bet that they are HOA-free.

It could be cuz most of the inner city neighborhoods here in Baltimore and DC have no HOAs and u can see the difference when comparing to communities with HOAs. My husband refuses to buy a house that has HOA fees...I am not sure if that is a good idea cuz sometimes HOA are good with their strict rules about keeping each property well kept. I do not want to have neighbors trashing their properties and bringing my house value down. There are pros and cons...hmm

Did you know there is a townhouse community near Reistertown Road and I-695 with a HOA (townhouse/condo fee) fee of 11 bucks a month?

11 bucks? My husband doesnt want a townhouse..wants a single family home. We are in contract with a home in Old Brooklyn Park near Baltimore. We both like that area so if this house doesnt work out, there are many other homes for sale in that area..hehehe. I just love this house cuz it has a jacuzzi tub!!!!! :sobs:

The reason I said "sob" cuz the contract is in danger of becoming null cuz the sellers are pissed off at us and their agent is very pissy. Oh boy..will find out more tmw if it is still on or not.

You're right about HOA is good for guaranteeing that your home is sold or bought at a fair price without being devalued by the neighbors' neglect of their own properties. I'd still go with an HOA, but would watch out for fees or prices to make sure they're reasonable.
