I think PePe understands that. PePe's point is that some people's income doesn't qualify them for a mortage. PePe would like to buy a house but gets turned down by the lenders.

I'm so sorry that you are having this struggle. I know you are very disappointed that you can't buy a house.

I hope your situation improves so that you can some day buy a house. Don't give up. New possibilities can pop up. You might get an increase in income, or new lending programs might develope. Also, check into Habitat for Humanity and similar programs.

Maybe you can find a place "rent-to-own" without FHA but thru a private owner, or a small piece of rural land that you can put a trailer on. Then, as you can afford it, you could build a house on that land.

I know that you are trying hard. Just don't lose patience or give up.

Hang in there!

I'm on SSD and I get my check every month. My husband works full-time. We brought this house almost 2 yrs ago. It's fixed rate. Horselover, I'm surprise that you don't have to pay property taxes. My mortgage pays my property taxes twice a year and once a year on my home owner's insurance. I prefer that way. 3 bills in one payment. Yes, we can invest our house. I brought this house for $105,000. But last year, we had it appraised and it was $125,000. The worse cost is the property taxes.

PePe, have you try Habitat for Humanity? Here's the link you might want to check it out.

I agree!! Owning a house is LOT better than renting a house.

After you paying the house off like in 10-15 or 20 or 30 years, the house is YOUR. You can remodel and fixed up and anything your house without telling the landlord, the house is yours, not landlord. I hate landlords.
In my own opinion - Landlords are ripoff!!

I am not on SSI or anything. I work full time, my husband works full time and we have a little son, and my husband and I brought the house in 1992 (that is 15 years ago, for $89,000 and we putting so much money on house payment to pay off, and we got like 5 more years the house will be paid off. But we have remodel the house a lot, and everything is complete change.. We hired appraisal (person who come to check how much the house is value) last year, the first we brought the house for $89,000, we spend 4 years remodeling the house (new roof, new walls, new kitchen, landscape and new steps) and he said, our house now is up to $115,000. I was like, "YOU KIDDING ME!" And this summer, we are going to put new walls in the basement and putting new A/C and new flooring in the basement, that will add up to the value. In 5 years after our house paid off, the house will be ours, we can sell for $125,000 and all the money will go to my pocket instead of paying to the loan. It's depend how you want to sell. Or if we found a new house that cost $110,000, we can sell our house for $120,000 and keeping $10,000 left oover in my pocket and it mean no house payment.

Get it?

Landlord, you paying your landlord, and landlord love your money. You can't fix the rent house, or paint the rent house, etc as long you ask the landlord permission. Phffft...

Or landlords don't fix things that they are suppose to do. And some landlords refuse to return your Security Deposit back after you move out. I've been there and done that. That's how landlords makes profit and they can be greedy.

Yep been there and one that. I never got my money back twice. Enough is enough!!

I can understand for some ppl dont have enough income. I know it was hard. It was hard for me cuz I didnt have enough income either or dont have down payment but since I got the money from my mom's inhertance *sp* and that how I was able to get the house.

As for free property tax. In NH anyone is disable or elderly are quailify for free property tax but have to fill out the application to get it. I did it twice in the past and I just got a new one for this year. Also the residents have to live in NH for 6 yrs before you can apply.

yes they can be excused at any age. I'm not exactly sure why but they do consider deaf as handicapped so when they see a "handicapped" person they get a free property tax. Usually, the first year, you have to pay for the property tax then after that its free.

I meant to add, ",,,,in New Hampshire..."

Anyway, Rebel, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me that just because one is deaf that they'd get excused from paying property taxes. It makes more sense to me that people, deaf or hearing could get relief from property taxes based on meeting economic criteria. No? Anyway, maybe Horselover can answer that.....maybe it was that she met some economic criteria.....

Not just deaf for any kind of disablities. Dont ask me cuz that is NH law. Not only that for those ppl who are on SSDI or SSI or medicare can get a free property tax. It can be either deaf or hearing who are on SSDI or SSI. So it doesnt matter is the way it goes. I didnt know about it til I read the paper on my property tax when I first moves here 7 yrs ago. In Mass. you have to pay no matter what but not in NH.

I just recently bought a house like almost 2 months ago and I didnt have to pay the property taxes just because I am on SSDI. My mortgage agent said that I don't have to pay the property taxes at all.

Angel, most mortgage included property tax and house insurance so that is why I told them not to included tax since I am on tax exempt. Also I have to get my own insurance which that is ok with me cuz I rather use the same insurance I have for my car.

Yeah I know but I dunno how it works on not being able to pay the property tax?...

So you're saying I can't cause it already inculding in the mortgage payment?

I really liked the house and looks perfect. It is very different to New Zealand's style. Kitchen must be next to entrance. Good luck!

You have to go to the town hall if your state do have tax exempt. If they do then ask them if you are quailify. If you do then refinances your home without included tax.

I say it a nice looking house and heard that u can take that house to another land if u want to move but as some amercians houses are not made of bricks like we have in uk so therefore wont be fire proof or safeproof against strong winds and hurrences *sp if u get them.
