I had epidural as well with my Son's birth... I didn't want it but the doctor told me that I had to have it to speed up the progress of the labor as I was already in labor for two days. It didn't hurt at all to have epidural, just a little pitch and that was that, but they messed it up as only half of my side was numb and other half wasn't. So they had to do it all over again, and then finally get numb from both sides, from waist down. Man, it felt so heavy to have my legs numb, lol. After giving birth to my son, it took couple of hours for that epidural to wear off... ugh.

If i have another kid again someday, I'm not having epidural again... ugh.

Contractions didn't hurt me at all... all I felt was pressure... I suppose it's different for everyone.

You are welcome to ask the question. You can get pregnant. Make sure eat well and health. The underweight women with pregnant can increase the craving and appetite. My friends are underweight and had pregnancy. They gave a babies birth by c-section & natural. It depend on hip's big or small. My two friends got C-section because their hips are small.

If you think you can't get pregnant. Just check with your OB/GYN. He/She will answer your question. You will have to check up for pap test to see if you're health and could get pregnant.

Oh yea? Considered yourself lucky. With me, when the contractions were very close together, it was so painful but, after the epidural with my first-born, I felt like I was in heaven. But, I did felt the pressure during birth.

But, with my second- son, I had no epidural at all, and it was hell. I wasn't in labor that long with both of my sons. Somewhere around 4 hours and 6 hours.

I remembered my sister was in labor for 2 days, poor her, it must been hell for her.

With my first, the contractions pain nearly drove me insane when they weaned me off the epidural so I could push. With the 2nd, I had no contraction pain and the dr asked me if I wanted an epidural. I told her that I still wasnt feeling any pain so I told her to wait and she told me that I was at the point of no return meaning that I was at the stage where it was becoming too late to ask for an epidural and thinking about the pain I went through with my first, I told her to go ahead with the eipidural. When it was time to wean me off, I was very very nervous thinking the contractions would hit me like a bomb so I steeled myself...then nothing happened. The doctor came around and checked the contraction meter and told me that I was having them one after the other. I told her that I couldnt feel anything and she asked me if I was still numb from the epidural. I told her that I wasnt because I could feel and move my legs. So she said I was ready to push and I was like, "For real???" So, I started pushing thinking anytime the contractions would hit me hard..after 15 mins of pushing, my son came out. Still NO contraction pains. I was thinking I could have gone without the epidural! Now, that was what I would call an easy labor!

Anyone ever had intense lower back pain during contractions? Oh my goodness, those are the worst! The nurse told me it was from the pressure that your baby's head puts on your lower back (the bone part of your spine) I had them both times with my first and second. The only way to ease the aches is to have someone rub your lower part of your back, my mom did a horrible job rubbing my back, I remembered shouting at her that she was doing it all wrong. My sister was the only one that did it the right way.

Whew - Just when I was reading this thread; It made me remember both of my births to the boys. I remember it just like it was yesterday.

1st son - 5 days over due. Scheduled for an induction. When I felt the contraction increasing due to the picotin in my system, it was so painful. It was painful that I actually clawed my hands on my ex husband's shirt and ripped it up front in half. Poor him, LOL.

Anyway, So, I ended up having the epidural which helped but.... they had put a bit of too much epidural in me because I was totally numb from the mid section of my torso to my toes. I couldn't even move at all. I couldn't even feel anything. I didn't know when I was supposed to push. I didn't even have the urge to push at all. When the doctor asked me if I felt anything at all? I said nope. She said "Boy, your contractions are going way off the board on the meter". After a little while, the baby's oxygen level was getting a little bit low. They had to hook me up to the oxygen machine and told me to turn over to my side. I, of course could not even turn to my side because of the epidural. They litterally had to pull/push me to my side so that way the baby could get the oxygen. It got to the point where the doctor told me that it was time for me to push. I had to figure out the timing pace to push/stop. The dr also had to use the vacuum to "pull" him out as well. Within 45 mins later, my son was born.

2nd son - It was a completely different experience. He was also 5 days overdue. It was scheduled for an induction on the 7th day of being overdue but, the night before he was born, I started to feel some pain in my lower back. I kept dismissing it and the next day (the 5th day overdue), the pain was becoming a little bit unbearable. Went to the hospital and when the doctor did the vaginal examination on me to see how many centimeters I was dilated at arrival; I was already 5 cm dilated at arrival.

I, of course, requested for an epidural. So, they gave me the epidural. It was supposed to work, right? It didn't even work for me at all. I could still feel the contractions and the pain. 3 hours later, I was still feeling everything. They gave me the 2nd dose of the epidural. It STILL didn't even work too. So, they gave me demerol. The demerol didn't even help me at all. The only thing the demerol did was make me so sleepy. I kept falling asleep between the contractions. When the contractions came on, I woke up and fell asleep when the contractions stopped. It was like back and forth from there. At that point, I was at the point of no return of receiving any more drugs to reduce the pain. I had the strong urge to push my son out of me but the doctor said I wasn't ready. I told him that either you be ready or not, I'm still pushing anyway. I want him to get out now. While I was pushing, I felt everything. I could even feel him crowning out of me and all that. It was interesting to feel the head coming out. Only it took me 15 mins to push him out.

The ironic thing is - after my son was born, that damn epidural finally started to work. Thank god it worked at that point because I couldn't feel the doctor doing the episiotomy on me.

Conceptually, You could say that the 2nd birth for me is all natural since those drugs didn't even work on me.

Comparing those contractions that are natural and induced, Induced contractions are far more painful/tense than natural contractions are (that's my experience). It would make sense because induction are meant to "speed" things up and that makes your body work more than it naturally is.

Weird, I have not know anyone who are my friends or relatives have not experience with the water birth. I guess it is not very common. =/ I guess the water birth must be expensive, not many people can afford it?? I dont know. I wish I know someone who have experience with the water birth and tell me but no one.

I will you my experiences with 2 pregnancies.

1st pregnancy, went into labor at 39 weeks 6 days and had my son on the next day which I was 40 weeks. I had back labor...no fun at all without any drugs. I was 5 CM when I was checked in to check. So they admitted me. I walked and Jacuzzi for 30 min (it was like at 1 30 AM or something like that). BOOM! From 5 CM to 9 CM. Too late for IV drug..Demerol or something like that. So I had to deal with back pain... on my front, felt NOTHING no pain...just the contraction keep going. and pushed for about 3 hrs and finally called C-section specialist and check on me He said nah don't need C section and can use the forceps. And finally he was out!

With 2nd pregnancy

I had to go in to get induced. First of all I wasn't dilate at all at the dr's office. But cervix did thinned out. So he explained about Cervical pills that go in vagina to help to dilate and cervix to thin out. When we arrived at the hospital to be admitted. Dr checked me, and I was 4 CM. He said I was too far off for Cervical pills and went ahead to put me on picotin to get my contractions going. After about 5 or 6 contractions later...OMG! I was in so much pain and asked for epidural. It was so weird to have it because I never experienced it with 1st. I was SOOOO ITCHY! Nurse smiled at me and it will go away..she was so sweet! I can fee/move my legs but I cannot feel contractions. My contractions kept stalling on and off for about 2 and half hours after fully dilated. Actually I was fully dilated at around 2 30 AM and wasn't ready to push for about an hour later because I don't feel any pressure. So I have to wait for contractions to keep going...but it kept stalling...argh! Nurse asked dr to increase the picotin and he said NO...nurse got pissed cuz she know how I felt and wanted the baby out of me. After about 2 and half hours....finally he was out with no forecp or anything. It was soo painful while to push him out..I was screaming to get him OUT!! OFC I did cried and cried...it hurt like HELL! But having him was so worth it! he was put on my chest and gave him kiss and clean him up a bit before nurse took him. He is such a good baby but so piggy! I am sure DHB will tell you more about it if he want to tell.

Me too. Nobody tell me either. My friends and family have zero experience during waterbirth. That is why I was curious about this. I prefer to get in bathtub during labor to reduce the stress and painful. The OB/GYN said the water have chemical inside. It's not good for baby birth in water.
