Baby's first sign

What was your child's first sign? How old were they?
My daughter's first clear undeniable sign (which was clear enough not to look like we were reading into hand movements too much) was the BSL sign for "food". She was about 6 months old.

She only recently started signing "love" 18 months, but most of the family keep on saying she's "throwing a paddy (tantrum)" and so whenever she does it, they act like she is. It's soo annoying, but oh well.

firstly its a legal requirement.
i would say that as someome working with children, in wahtever capacity, your prime responsibility to the child and its parents is to keep the child safe.
children learn from the adults in their lives and you should also be able to pass on some basic understanding of health and safety principles to the children in your care (presuming the child is of appropriate age/level of understanding)
