Wink baby monitors

I saw a thread about monitors a few days ago but i hadn't registered yet so i couldn't reply. so sorry if making another thread is a bit annoying.

i'm profoundly deaf, having only 25-30% of hearing in both ears. I use phonack back of the ear aids and they work pretty well. I just had a baby boy last tuesday and forgot one critical thing. the baby monitor.

we bought a first yrs monitor thinking if i put it near my ear i could hear it but we were wrong. i looked online for monitors for deaf parents but the majority of what i found were either whole house monitoring systems OR one that flashes and should be used when you're awake.

Target has a graco vibrating monitor that we're going to buy later today, in case it doesn't work, what suggestions can anyone give me for monitors? one the aids go off, im in space and i just don't wakeup. i need a way to tend to my kid at nite....please help

A suggestion: Go to harriscommunications.com and check out their baby monitors. The ones that flashes can be used for when you're asleep. I learned how to wake up with the flashing lights for my babies...and I also had the vibrating monitor as well. I used that one if I was working around the house. Hope you find something soon - you're gonna need it! Congrats on the baby! Trust me- this baby will grow faster than your eyes can believe - so enjoy every precious moments every minute that you can .

By the way Congratulation on the arrival of your baby. I would go to Harris Communication to buy a baby cry signaler, It's a little expensive but it's so worth it.

Your baby is so darn cute.

thanx everyone. i went to the site and found the alert master baby sound monitor...i've never used products geared for the hard of hearing so i g uess i need to use it w/ a receiver....it says the alert master ampx personal signlaer would work....

so my next question is, how the heck do i use this? buy the alert system, buy the receiver, put it in the room and then the receiver will vib? will it work if the child's crib is in the same room as the receiver?

I can't answer your question but wanted to say congrats on having your baby. Also, I am hoh and I sleep w/ my babies (4 yo and 2 yo) BUT that isn't the best option since SIDS and all that other stuff. I just wanted to share what I did and still do.

When you get your monitor, get the Baby Cry Signaler. It helps!!!!!! I have both the monitor and the Baby Cry Signaler.

I have the Fisher Price one as well - it vibrates, lights up, and has sounds - if it is discontinued, the OP can always try looking on Ebay for one.
