Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.

I found this in a fitness forum.

A guy, 22, wants to have sex with a girl who's 16. I'm the dad of a 1 year old daughter. I am worried about her enough as it is, but I cant think of how much I'd worry about this if this was my daughter. I'm angry about this guy doing this, am I right to be angry? What would you do if your daughter was in this situation?

(to make things equal, you can read the 22 year old guys side on his blog, Having Sex With A 16-Year-Old | Becoming A Pick-Up Artist )

I don't think you have any right to be angry. This guy's from Canada where in many places it's legal to consent at the age of 16. That'd be like you being angry at your daughter for consenting at 18. If that's the case, then you really do have bigger problems.

Sorry to say that but as a mother, parents. I strongly believe it wrong for adults to have sex with a 16 years old child. So 16 years told is still a kid and shouldn't be having sex with a older adult. It also against the laws for adults to have sex with kids that are so young. I consider that rape. I would never allow my kids date adults until they are adults themselves over 18 years old they can do whatever they want. I would never approve of a older guys dating teenage girls. It disrespectful.

I as a mother would be angry too, It just wrong, I don't care if age is just a number, it's just wrong to have sex when one is underage, it's like giving parental consent for pemission to have sex.

Teenagers should be enjoying the time of their lives to finish high school and making great memories and go to college not screw their life up with someone who is adults think it okay to have sex with a teenagers is wrong. Maybe to some people age is a number but when it comes to kids.. that is a whole different story.

16 is the age of consent in some places.. so maybe it's not so looked-down-upon in that person's area.

*shrugs*

I would be angry but if my daughter (if I ever have one!) get pregnant and let her learn her lesson. So it is vary on each parents' opinions.

As a mother , YES because 16 years old is still a child and shouldn't be dating or having sex with anyone above 18, the 22 years old should have known better cause he would have been charge for rape...

This is a sticky situation.

If this took place in another country where the age of consent was different, then the argument would be different.

It's like drugs and alcohol. In almost all countries, the drinking age is 18. About 5 countries have the drinking age of 21. About 15 countries have the drinking age of 16. A few have the drinking age of 19. While Americans can argue that 21 should be the drinking age, the rest of the world is gonna sit there scoffing because their typical drinking age is 18. Some countries have marijuana as being legal. That's why there are people who think or say... "Hey, let's go to (country name) and get drunk/stoned!" Why do you think many nearby foreign countries are popular Spring Break locations?

While she may not be fully mentally developed, there's not that big a difference between 16 and 18. The only reason I disapprove is because he's after her for sex, not a meaningful relationship. Age is only a number.

16 years old is not kid or child but teenager.

Anyway, I has to agree with Dennis on this.

The age of consent is around the world are ages 14 to 18. The ages are more varied than the drinking age.

You have the rights to be angry to show enough how much you really care for this 16 years old girl since she is still underage. But, please don't pick up the baseball bat to whack at 22 years old guy. Alwite ? This will send you off to slammer.

I think it is wrong of him havin' sex with this 16 years old girl. I am mom of 4 fully grown up kids. I would imagine how a parent must feel about this kind of situation - I would be pissed, too if I ever learned that my daughter is havin' sex with 22 years old guy... BUT, if she gets pregnant - then, I will have to deal it with her by sayin' that she has to go through it in despite of goin' to high school. I don't believe in abortion, because of trauma she will be experiencin' if, a parent should force or make her to have an abortion.

It's important to focus on school first before havin' sex, because sometimes " sex " could cause distraction from school homework. You know how the young " teen " girls like to THINK of " boys " to hang out alot nowdays.

As for your 1 year old daughter, I would advice you to train her up the right path earlier before she becomes teen. Communication is important between father and daughter. Of course, it is natural for the fathers to protect their daughters. Make yourself a good father for your daughter. ;)

Hmm.. I don't vote at all because I can't judge what you should be mad or not.

About this situation, well, my great grandparents are 10 years old apart, my grandparents are 7 years old apart, my uncle and anut are about 8 years old apart, there is lot of people I've seen that are about less than 10 years old apart. 22 years old man and 16 years old girl are only 6 years old apart, that is not really a big thing to me while I hang out with people who are about 4 or over, even some over 30 years old at the MOST while I was only 20 years old. During my high school, I always hang out with my friends who already graduated from school more than other friends that I hang out at my school. My parents seems doesn't really have much of problem, they ratherly glad that I was very independent and taking care of myself, return home on time before 10 pm, doing my homeworks, wash my own lanudry, clean my own room and my own mess around the house, etc.

I did, somehow, argued with my parents that I should drop out the school because I thought I was too mature to attend more schools in high school, but I failed and stayed in the school. I would assumed that is the only one thing my parents would ever taught me during my high school, never give up on anything that are important for me.

My parents, oddly, doesn't care if I was out party and get drunk, or making any troubles, or whatever, they just don't want me to depend on them to take care of my consquences, they want ME to take care of my own troubles. They want me to be ADULT, not a teenager or kids.

I will be the same as my parents when I have a child. If my child got pregnanted or have the baby with his gf, I would help them how to be parents, help them to learn through in the out REAL world. Also I will put them on effort to stay in high school so that they can learn how to go to the college or working while having the children same time.

I just don't want to put so much of rules over them because it makes me feel like they are not learning anything if they can't do anything on their own, but ratherly let them learn their experience in the real world.

Sorry to say but 16 years old teenagers is still a kid a child which means he or she still underage minors. But we are not in other country and living USA. But if I were living in other country then probably different story but I would still not want my child be marry so young when he or she have a full life head of them to be something of themselve in their future.

Yup, you have rights to be angry about what happen, that your personal and just better to train them before its happen in near future.

You can protect your daughter as you want too until she hit 18, such as not teach to drive or make rule to not make boyfriend or something like that.

16 yrs old is still a minor and still in school.. too young to make a decision to have sex with 22 yrs old guy.. her brain is still developing... he is adult and just want SEX? thats plainly wrong! period! if she was over 18.. then its her choice but i would tell her to think of practicing safe sex with rubbers but also would tell her to think of education and her career. which one is important? thats for the girl to decide.... but i hope she would make her decision on education instead.

Yes i m agree w/you

If i have daughter who have sex with 22 year old guy i wuld get :pissed: big time and wuld have call police on him for press change of rape s(sp)

It's for Dewayne2 You have rights angry cuz of LAW since she is under minor

There's no magical change when someone turns 18 that suddenly makes them adult. Hell, I know some 40-year-olds with the maturity of a 10-year-old.
