Any tips on finding Childcare for Deaf Kids

I am moving to a new city (Chicago) with one deaf and one HH child. (I am a hearing parent). I am just wondering how people go about finding childcare for deaf kids, if sign language is critical? Where I live now, I got lucky, one of our doctors put me in touch with a couple of grad students who signed, but in a new town, I just don't know where to begin. Thanks

i'm not familiar with the chicago area. but once you move. a couple of suggestions, contact your local Department of Economic security, for daycare centers or even private care for deaf, and or hh children. you can also put a personal note in the newspaper in search of daycare for deaf, and hh children in your area. those are some suggestions.or another might be, contact some local churches, also google search it for in your area of chicago.
Good Luck, Ask God to help you.he knows what you have need of before you ask, but let your request be made known. It will work out for you.

i'm aware that more and more day care centers are using sign language to communicate with babies and toddlers. maybe that will help too... but i doubt they will know whole ASL.. just some basic ones.

In a large city such as Chicago, there will no doubt be numerous resources. I would suggest contacting state dept. of education for referrals to programs that use sign.

Putting ads in the paper can be risky when looking for childcare.
