AT what age you allow?

I dunno if its repost or not? Since I want to ask you

At what age do you allow your daughters to wear make up? I myself allow my daughter (if i have-since i only have son) to wear make up when shes reaching to approx. 14. Since couple that live 2 houses from where i live allow their daughters (9 and 7) wearing make up. I was freaking out and wonder why they allow their youngest to wear. Is that too young to wear?

I am totally against it! I will not allow her to wear makeup till she reach 16.

9 and 7 is way too young! Fake make up is ok but real one is big no no!

For 9 and 7 years old girls - I think nail polish and fruity flavour lip gloss is enough for them.

My girls start to wear make up as soon as they start Year 7, but my eldest girl (16 next month) is not interested at all and my middle daughter is interested to wear eyeliner and mascara. My youngest 12 is wearing nail polish and eyeliner sometimes.

I myself wearing make up when I was about 13 - only at the weekends.

That's awful that those girls age 7 and 9 are wearing makeup! What happened to childhood?

The right age to begin wearing makeup is after the teenage girl can afford to buy it with her own money. The only exception is protective lip gloss and skin creams because those are for taking care of the skin, so parents should pay for those.

Young girls should wear soft "natural" style makeup.

IMO

I'm not too fond of make up. I dont have kids right now but if i ever have a daughter...I think over 16 years old is apporiate. but I'll just hope she never bothers with make up..real beauity is much better than having some make ups on.

As for me, Doesn't mind as long not TOO MUCH make up..
I do not want agruing w/my daughter.. She is near pre-teen. As long she can wear make up little light not too heavy.. Likely eyeliner and lipgloss.. G'enough..
She accept it..
I'm glad she accept my offer..
Which it's good thing..

When she is in Junior high school..her choice.. light or heavy.. I will advise her.. keep contuine light make up and not necessary heavy make up.. Why is that necessary heavy make up for?
Not yet... She isn't in junior high school yet.. and will be attend Sept 2006

I see nothing wrong to have children to experiement their curiously...

Let them focus their curiously until they sataify their curiously and then decide what they like or not.

If I have a daughter, I dont mind to have her to wear make-up...

Well I started wearing makeup when I was 13. So I think the proper age for girls to start wearing makeup is 14 or 15, unless you dont want them to start dating boys til they are 18 yrs. old.

It's up to parent's decision, it depends on surrounding and family life. No one has to tell you which age is proper. some girls mature early or later so every individual are unique. For me, I am not going to decide when my future daughter can start wearing.. It depends on what happens on that certain timeline. I can't tell myself ok I will let her doing that after she's 13 or 16 or 24 or 66. It depends if we can afford them whenever it becomes the topic of their interest. If we can't afford, we say no till whenever time is right.

We all know that earliest is the best option than wait later. you know we teach kids earlier on everything than wait till age appropriate then may fall back among their peers.

Things and Time are changings. Taboos and Standards doesn't stand still in age of times. It changes...! It was taboo to wear skirt among adults now it is no longer taboo. It was taboo to wear biniki in all girl family but now it is no longer. you know 1950's and 2000's aren't same anymore. Time change everything! no need to hold on to past. makeup are already in the mainstream everywhere.

Cheers!

It's never too young to wear. There's girl's pageant for all ages! they wear make up!

and in movie industry, did we fail to realize that those children wore makeup! Shirley Temple had makeup in all of her movies. no harms.. it is your to decide. look at your surrounding and it is your house and you are spending money on makeup for them. It is your decision. make up your mind

I'd allow my daughter to wear lip gloss at around the age of 10-11 yrs old. I would allow her to wear full make up at the age of 15.

Incidently, I was also fifteen when my Mother allowed me to wear make up.

I agree with you. I went through a "stage" when I first was allowed to wear make up, where I wore it heavily for about six months. After that, I really got tired of it, and I was also told I really didn't need it. I quit wearing it, and still don't apply make up to this day.

It depends on what kind of make up.

There is some kind of lip glosses, sheer shiny or sparkly eyeshadows for pre-teens, usually with fruity or candy scents. candy colored nail polish etc.
I've heard there are even real perfumes specifically for kids nowadays.

Then for girls like 15, 16 most popular is Body Shop, Mac, or Cover Girl etc., and the likes,
more "mature" make-up stuff but still sheer and light enough not to cause "adult" look. They like beiges, light pinks and peaches, basically neutral colors.

The eyshadows color is more pronounced and foundation is used ( blemishes) but over all look should be fresh and attention draw to the eyes, mostly. still lipgloss.

The most important thing is to teach your daughter that make-up role is to highlight her best features, to enhance her natural beauty, to cover some imprefections and most important make her look as it's her in her natural state not being visibly made over.
Point out to her that Jessica Simpson, or Ashley and Mary Kate who are now like what, 18, 19 y.0. they wear different kind of makeup than younger celebrities like .. yeah of course I have to forget their name now..
I'm sure you can find something.. what's the name of that tennis show..

Sometimes it really helps to book a young girl to see a good make-up artist at trendy make-up counter. They'll listen to young and fashionable experts.
Mac's for example is very popular.
It's money well spend and fun for both daughter and mommy

maybe their parent aren't embarrassed to allow their daughters to do that during shopping or whatever.. I think maybe parent got "whopped" by the girls "look at tv, see they wear make up and we are same age!" blah blah. be glad you are not like them. your daughter is your child not theirs

I remember my sister wore everything when she turned 18 , the only thing she was allowed to have at I think 13 or 14 years old was earrings. That was it.

As for me, I would want my daughter to wait until she is 18 years old because I do not want my daughter to dress like a whore at 7 or 9 years old or at age 13 years at all either.

Girls today are way too young to be wearing those things made for the WOMEN not the girls. It is scary knowing these stuff can make a young girl of 13-14 years old look like a 20-21 years old young woman. That is crazy, man !!!! I mean it is scary how they market all those things to young girls to dress them up as 20-25 years old when they are 13...:shakes my head:

It is shocking what they market to the young girls today, let me tell you what happened to a friend of mine.

One of my friends dated someone he was 24 at the time and the girl said she was 20 years old and would turn 21 years old....somehow all of a sudden the police kicked the door down on his house and the police were so angry they beat him up so bad, I mean a real bad beating in his own house !!!! and he could not understand what was wrong and the police would tell him nothing, I mean nothing at all and read him the miranda warning very angrily to him. It wasn't until he found out through his lawyer that he was dating a 13 years old girl. He got the shock of his life !!!!

He said there was no way he would date the 13 years old girl. Her father was so angry but eventually he realized that his wife, his mother kept allowing and encouraging his daughter to wear women's makeup and stuff like that and asked the judge to re-consider and drop the charges against my friend because he realized that there was no way my friend would date a 13 years old girl and that father did not want to ruin a young man's life.

It was all because of the mother encouraging his daughter to dress like a woman when she is only 13 years old and should rightfully have been playing with her friends and doing the things a normal pre-teenager girl should do !!!! :shakes my head:

My friend had to fight alots of some real bad guys in jail because of the charges which is seen as the worst of the worst in jail, even the prison guards tried to beat him up and he got his lawyer to drop the assault charges in jail on both of the prisoners and the jail guards because he actually was innocent !!!!! It took time, hard effort and money and trying to stay alive at all costs.

He had to do bodily harm to alots of those bad guys and put them in the hospital. They had to be transported from the jail to the hospital. It was nothing a small jail infirmary could handle. He had to cause major injuries to both the inmates and the jail guards alike in order to stay alive in jail long enough to talk to a lawyer and explain everything then the judge realized that he would never have dated that girl, had he known she was 13 years old.

My friend learned a very big lesson and I guess the mother where ever she may be now I don't know if she ever learned a big lesson but I know for sure the father became more over-protective of his daughter as any father in his right mind should be. He fought really hard for his daughter but then realized what her mother, his wife was doing. I don't know what all happened but the last time I heard of them, they were getting divorced in court.

Goes to show what can affect and impact somebody's life all from one person.

No and Why would I do that? I have no reason to do that. I am telling it as it happened to my friend so that another guys will take heed and the women who refuse to listen to what their husbands have said no to will pay a price. The blood is on the mother's head.

This happens to alots of guys all the time. The news media only reports a staple of the day's incidents.

I cannot even remember when I first had my make-up, I'm sure it was around 13 to 14 years old, My aunt is the one who showed me how to put make-up on my face. I think young girls would look sluty if they have too much make-up on for the age of 7 or under the age of 10. I think something light would make a younger girl look good, like lip gloss those are popluar for young girls and nail polish.

My mom encouraged me to start wearing light make-up at age 14 and I think 14 is an appropriate age to start.
