Service dogs?

Does anyone use service dogs for the deaf? What exactly do they do? How much does it cost? Where can I find one?

Get a regular dog and train it to bark when someone knocks on your door. Use sign language with it and the dog will pick up on it. No need for a "service dog" imo.

While that's a pretty good idea if you're consistent in your training; the drawback might be that the IRS might only recognize Service Dogs before allowing you the deductions for having this animal.

If you trained it to do that, it's automatically a service dog for the deaf.
