anyone can shed some light?

hello, I'm new here.

Seems like an interesting enough site!!!

I have a question, and I'm hoping someone may be able to shed some light before i go see a doctor. I'm not deaf, but there is something that's been bothering me.

Something strange has been going on with my right ear. For some reason, I have a hard time understanding people when they talk into my right ear. Especially in a crowded room, the sound isn't crisp, it's muffled. Especially in a crowded room, the conversation is drowned by background noises, and I sometimes have a hard time understanding what the person is saying.

It's pretty wierd, but it is easier to understand amd hear the crisp little details in the sounds we hear every day, using my left ear.

Would anyone know what this could be? ? ? \

Thank you...

Hi and welcome.

It could be anything ranging from ear wax to actually being deaf. I would suggust going to the doctor and make sure it is not anything physical. If doctor doesn't find anything wrong, then go to a audiologist and see what they find.

Hope it is as simple as ear wax for your sake.

Definitely agree that it could just be ear wax. It could also be something more severe like a tumor, a friend of mine had a tumor in his ear and now he is mostly deaf in that ear. Either way, you should have it checked by a doctor to make sure it's not serious!

Thanks though ... I actually setup an appointment with a specialist for tomorrow. Gonna have it checked out and see what he tells me.

to AllDeaf forum. If it is the wax that clog up your ear, then that could be the answer to your hearing problem. Other thing is that maybe you may have come down with something that cause you to lose your hearing loss on your right ear. I used to have several late deafened friends who lose their hearing loss gradually until they are deaf. I don't know what the symtoms that cause hearing loss. I agree with members of the AD that you should see the doctor and find out why you can not hear very well on your right ear. I hope it is not serious, but if it is. Either you accept being deaf or go for the CI which we don't really approve very much. It is up to you to decide if you want CI or not. Good luck with your doctor appointment.

Hi,

thanks for your comments. It's pretty strange... it's not that i can't hear, it's more that when I hear stuff through my right ear, it seems harder to understand, especially in a crowd. It doesn't feel blocked or anything like that.

in any case, appointment's today, so I'll see what the doctor says. . .

thanks again .

Thanks again guys!

I went for my appointment with a specialist.

he checked out my ears and told me there's nothing wrong with them. Next step now is, I made an appointment for a hearing exam, and I'm hoping that it goes well.

I was also concerned because my grandmother, my mom, and my brother all have problems with ringing in their ear. It comes and goes, and can last for months. It drives them all nuts, and as of yet, no doctor's been able to fix it.

The specialist told me that he doesn't see the same thing happening to me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. .!!

I'll let you know how the hearing exam goes..

great site by the way, covers so many topics, some contraversial ones as well (that you don't usually see in most forums!!) Great work!!
