I am deaf myself. anyway. My all hearing family never call me to see how we are doing or they have party like Thanksgiving or Christmas or whatever. I didn't hear from them for many years that I married to deaf man. Now I married to a hearing man. My most family knew about us because of my dad. My dad told everyone that We were getting marry. My family called Spencer " Hi and how are you doing or they intive us. I was annoying because they never call or intive me for many years. I realize that they rather have hearing person instead deaf person. I was so upset and hurt that they never think about me. They always think about my husband because he is a hearing. My husband didn't like how they do that way. He stopped call them for long time. because he know it is not fair for me.

We are doing our own family and also have friend family. We never intive my family for any hoilday or whatever again because we tried few time but they didnt come.

Serious I never hear from my family for 10 years until I married my husband then We visited them until we decide stop. We don't hear from them for 2 years now.

Wow! That sucks..I can relate in some way. I only keep in touch with my mom and dad sometimes. Once in a while, from my grandparents but my hearing cousins dont bother to contact my deaf brother and I at all. We do try to keep in touch with them but we got tired of making the first move and we found out that all the cousins got together for a renunion. My brother and I didnt know about it until my mom asked us why we didnt go. We were like, "huh? What are u talking about?" My mom was shocked and very angry at our cousins. My brother and I were like "Whatever" cuz we dont really care anymore. It is sad but we are not gonna waste our time being angry at them.

I would do something about it and take the stand but not worth take a fuss about it because it is not worth it. At first it was pretty hard till we learned about txt messaging. My mom and I started using txt message on cell phone every now and then since they sold our second childhood home here and move to South Carolina so my dad could afford to retire. It is not easy, but through emails and txt messaging once awhile does the trick than a very long distance calls. Once in a while my brother would talk to them on the phone, a few words exchange was good enough. Not easy for me and my brother (he is hearing) but we learn to take one day at a time and seeing them once a year is getting tougher every time because it is very very hard for us to say goodbye to return to our state-ten hours drive.

I'm very sorry about how the way you through... I was shared by a few friends' experiences as well. But, I was not them because my family loved me no matter what or how.
but hey, you have your husband as long as you have your family now and he loves you dearly. It's so worthy for the better life in your future days instead of thinking about the old days. The old days are over and it's time to move on! You should enjoy your life every time, every day, every week, every month, and every year in many wonderful days. You never know!

I am sorry u had to go thru this. I never have any problem with my family and they did alot for me and other deaf people. I do not see many deaf friends of mine have this problems alike yours.

My dad is only one to let me know about our family. One probelm is We are not getting along at all. We don't talk each other much. I don't know what my family doing. My mom don't have any family because they are dead. She didnt have any cousins. My mom and I always keep in touch often.

Let me tell you, my some family refuse speak with me because of my dad. They really hate my dad for many reasons. I didnt do anything wrong with them. They said I remind them of my dad. They feel guilty that they didn't take me away from foster places. My dad throw me to foster place. My mom had many bad feeling about my family. she don't allow herself to seee or visit my family for all years. Long story!

I am so happy that we have our own family. I am not worrying about that but I still love my family no matter what because they are part of my family forever. My dad's family are largest. I have many uncle and aunt and cousins. but I never hear from them for years. Also I don't have their phone number or emails or whatever because they don't want me have their info.

You are lucky. Look, I am not alone, Shelo have same issue. I have 2 best friends who have same issue. But my and their issue are not exaclty same.

I understand exactly what you are saying. My husbands family NEVER calls him. When they do call (not that often thank God) they call and want talk to me. It makes me soooooooooo angry. I am not their child, he is. I have also found that they are the type of people who thrive on being miserable. If we are unhappy then that's when they want to talk to us. If we are happy then they ignore us. We have decided not to contact them and if they do call then we are polite enough but don't get too personal with them. It sucks for him that they do not want a relationship with him. I personally think they are horrible people and the less I seak to them the better!! :-) I find that hand picked friends are sometimes better than family. God Bless.

How sad

My family and I always keep in touch via emails or text messages. They hate calling on Relay so they dont call me but do contact me through emails or texts often - 2 to 3x a week. But of course I am always the last one to find out about a family event or whatnot but they do eventually get around to let me know

Well me too My close family are not contact me much! But only see them on Easter day, Thankgiving and Christmas!! But My Bf s parent are most time contacts with us!!

Well, My famiy are pure mexican. Some are cheaper and think cannot afford a computer or cell phone or whatever. My dad has computer and emails. He still not know how use it. How embrassing, He don't know how use it. Sigh My mom and I always text or send email. Smile

We went to my family's Thanksgiving two time. My uncle intived us for his b day but his b day turned very bad. His girlfriend and my aunt got in fight over my uncle after she picked my cousins up. Then My husband and my other aunt had to stop his girlfriend but his girlfriend attacked them. That why she was so drunk. awful she had to go jail that my aunt had to report.

I don't have problem with hearing people keeping in touch with me. My parents keep in touch with me time to time and I keep in touch with them also. Sometimes I talk with my uncle, too. Mostly of the time, I talk to my parents.
