Lightbulb Sexism?

Hey all, I'm currently a student in Santa Fe, New Mexico and am enrolled in a Psychology of Women class. For our final paper we were asked to chose a topic relating to women in various communities. Having taken a few classes in ASL and Deaf Culture, I decided to investigate the role of women in the Deaf community. It is somewhat my understanding that women identify themselves as primarily Deaf with concern about gender as secondary. Though, I would assume there is some segragation. Does anybody have any insight for me? Even if the slight schism between men and women places women in a more powerful position that would be incredibly helpful to me. Thanks a lot!
