Hi, just curious,

What means for you guys to be deaf or hard of hearing? I mean what personal meaning it has for you?

It means I'm Deaf... and stubborn. I'm also obsessed with spelling and the laughter / enjoyment of the stupidity that comes with people and the use of saying the dead community.

You, a psychologist. Good grief. You seem to think we are all in our head that we are deaf or fake deaf. If you are hard of hearing, you would know better than to ask question(s) about wanting to be curious what is the meaning of deaf or hard of hearing.

We could not help if we lose our hearing loss from birth or illness which is not our fault. There are different degrees of hearing loss. What is the meaning of you asking ridiculous questions? We are not dead. I am Deaf but there are other people who have mild hearing loss to profound hearing loss. Every one is different which we could not hear or pick up the words. We live in a Deaf world. Period.

I thought he wanted me to write an essay! :D Sounded like an essay question... :P :laugh2:

It means that I communicate differently from hearing people.

The OP is a psychologist and HOH and asked this question it gotta made you wonder how good a psychologist they're . I can't remember if I read any of the OP comments , thanks for telling me know they're a 'psychologist.' . I did not notice the OP said 'dead' instead of deaf when I read it at 12 AM , I was 'dead' tried when I read.

I understand in Psychology there are ongoing discussions RE: how does one deal with "problems"- re:"hearing loss or deafness". Being "passive" helpless or Assertive" deal forthwith on an ongoing basis withour being "apologetic" all the time.

aside:the above came from the Canadian Hearing Society/Toronto- Coping/Dealing with YOUR hearing loss classes-which I attended some time ago.

Perhaps: a psychologist can give one "insight" as to which- one has chosen to follow. and why.

It just means that I'm HoH and I have to wear hearing aids, it's separate from how I identity as a person, actually, my glasses add more to my personality/identity than my hearing aids...i love my glasses :)

I think my new cane add more to my ID , it a wooden walking stick and it nice and thick . It said don't mess with my dog or me.

For me, I am deaf which make me clumsy more than any of my friends :/ I don't mind being who I am ^__^

Another opinion, every time they mention 'deaf', I image of the deaf people with sign language with or without voice just like me. HOH is someone who lost their sense of hearing and sometime learn sign language or never.
