An area on either side of the Spanish - French border. Not a separate country. Some with that heritage live in both countries. There have been some of the travel programs on PBS recently that visited the area.

I grew up on a small farm in southern Minnesota and there were Basque people in our community. I think they were mostly sheepherders. I remember my folks telling me about hearing them on our (several) party phone line.

Iparra, are you deaf or have an interest in deafness?

I'm not deaf, but my wife has worked with deaf and teaches me. My intention is to provide everyone the culture of our country. It's so unknown and different that I would like everyone to have the opportunity of meeting you. I hope I have not offended since my issue has nothing to do with the forum, just wanted people to know our culture and gradually reaches all corners of the world.

If I offended anyone, I'm sorry

That is okay except I would think if you want the world to be more aware of your unique culture, etc, I would think other websites that are inclined to do what you seek for your culture would be better. Try to find such a place. In the meantime, welcome to Alldeaf.....

is true, you're right, I hope that at least here we know a little more, I'll find other sites as well, you would know me webs?

No, I'm sorry, I do not know, specifically. In the meantime, enjoy this site, too.....

 Hi Xabi, Yeah, I heard about the Basque county and their interesting language. I was fortunate to try out basque food when I was in Melbourne, Australia. I can't remember the names of the dishes but the sea food dishes was excellent. Loved the experience at the Basque restaurant especially the food and music!
Cheers...
