How can I find ...... ???
A Church Congregation that has ASL interpreters available? My wife and I have not attended church regularly for many years, and for very private reasons.
We have both decided we would like to find a church that we both feel comfortable with (we both have been raised under the "rules" of the same denomination). We have both been burned by Churches before, and that is one of the main reasons we have both not attended. Now, we have both decided on a couple of simple rules. We will visit a different church - if possible - each week. If I like it, and she does not, we don't join. If she likes it, and I don't, we don't join. We both have to agree that we both like it. Rule number 1 - they must provide an ASL interpreter - so how would I go about finding this information? |

Wirelessly posted (Blackberry Bold )
Depending on which denomination you are you can contact the synod/diocese and ask if they can direct you to a church with licensed interpreters - or if they would be able to provide interpreters at whichever church you end up attending with the diocese/synod etc. I hope that helps - if you post which denomination you are, I might be able to offer more specific suggestions.

True that....a deafie friend invited me to his Church...to find that he was teaching ASL to 2 hearing ladies...who attempted to intrepret the services.....It was awful and I understood nothing...but kudos to them for trying so hard anyway....

The church I used to attend had a large deaf Sunday school class. There was a disagreement between two of the class elders, and a huge falling out ensued. My family attends this church. I went to visit and I was the only person to show up in the deaf Sunday school. The interpreter is certified and is married to another certified interpreter. They told me it has been this way for a long time.
