Confidence session to deaf 8to10 y o, HELP!

At the end of August, I've been asked as a 'role model' to give a confidence class to 8 to 10 years olds.

They said its to help them with there deafness and to show them how to make a conversation and makes friends as a example.

The two examples they've given, I find very hard to do, even at 25 years old, lol.

Anyone got any tips on what they would like to have in a confidence session? I could then make is simple for the young ones.

A confidence class?!?!? That is really sad that something like this is needed......
But you may want to emphasize the things they CAN do.....you could introduce the advantages of being dhh....you can turn off your hearing aids/CIs, use BSL (you're in the UK right?) Be positive. Tell them they are HOH.....NOT hearing impaired. Pass on info about partial hearing units, deaf schools and deaf camps......

If it's a class, they must already be in a dhh school or program.

Thank you

It's actually a deaf camp that I'm a leader on but I've been asked to do this 'confidence class' as they described it as I'm a good role model!

well have a discussion about things you can do well.......point out that hearing isn't everything.....that dhh kids can be sighted, or have the cool points of knowing sign and being able to turn their hearing aids off etc.....start out general and then get disabilty specific.
