Anyone into reptiles?

I'm into snakes, i've owned a few of them over the last 15 years.

My current is a Brazilian Rainbow Boa, about 4 feet long.

I've never personally had any reptiles but I like snakes and lizards and have handled some small ones. They have their own beauty to them.

I used to have baby snakes and brown lizards. Even cute frogs! But that was long ago.

actually one time I went to a reptile demo in college where they had some gorgeous boas and some much larger snakes and large iguanas and I got to hold them, that was very cool. I went to a university which was well-known for its natural resources college and biology, etc. studies programs so they had a lot of such activities for students.

I understand that reptiles have particular requirements for temperature, moisture, shade etc.

I loved my bearded dragon but I couldn't support her for long my two cats were cheaper than she was (as far as providing all she needed) it broke my heart but I gave her to a wonderful family that was very familar with beardies. She very happy now a days, I still have a big heart for reptiles but I'm not ready for one again just yet Their a lot more work than some would think.

I had two ball pyythons when I was younger. My father and mother would not allow me to own the more " dangerous " snakes...ha. I really wanted a red tailed boa but they balked at that idea. My mother was so terrified of the snakes that she made me keep them in my fathers garage in the backyard. I also had two iguanas but they were in my room. I wasn't happy with the lizards, prefer snakes.

I'd love to own an emerald tree boa they are beautiful.

I don't own any but there are lizards running around on my property. The other day I saw one running fast with its head and tail high and it does look like a miniature dinosaur.

One of the last times I went to Louisiana, there were alligators on some of the roads. It was creepy but kinda cool. Imagine walking out of your house to see one walking down the street.

My old roommates had five snakes: 2 red tail boas, 1 blood python, 1 California kingsnake, and 1 ball python. When we were living together, we had 10 pets in total

I used to have Garter Snake as pet for short time. The problem is feeding with mice. Since garter snake have special diet and it was a little young. Pet store do carry frozen baby mice but it don't have smaller size. I can feed it with earth worms but must have calcuim powder coat over worm so snake can have good bone. So I decide to let it go.

Garter snakes' main diet includes fish and frogs, which is probably why you had a hard time making it eat mice pinkies.

I never thought Fishes!! I've seen Garter tried to swallow frog once. The website abt Garter snake diet did not say more than just pinkie mice and worms. That would make a Garter a keeper if I am able to get fishes.

You can get feeder guppies or minnows from your local pet store. NEVER feed them goldfish!

I have a good website on garters bookmarked somewhere on my mac, when I find it, I will send the link to you.

Here is the picture of 2 leopard geckos named Speedy and Seth. This was before they got seperated due to aggressive behavior.

I saw a garden snake in the street once and was worried it would get run over
so I stopped my car and got out and put it on some grass . The snake was going toward the grass so I thought this was the safest place for it.

I would be scared. I've seen videos -- despite their short stubby legs, they can move really fast! And the bigs one will eat people, right?

Yikes! I guess I'm never moving to Loisiana!

When I was a kid I had turtles. I really wanted a dog and a cat -- but my parents said no to that...

The turtles were fun. Some of my neighbors use to bring back a tadpole after their visited their grandparents who lived on a farm. We would have ant eating contests between my turtle and their tadpole -- my turtle usually won.

I feel bad for the little critters I owned though. We obviously were not caring for them properly, none of them lived long. After a while we got the idea that our turtle bowl wasn't cutting it and I stopped getting turtles for pets.
