7-Ft. Long Dog Could Be Record Holder

CASSELTON, N.D. -- Boomer may be a buster: Measuring 3 feet tall at the shoulders and 7 feet long from nose to destructive wagging tail, he might be the world's tallest living dog.

Owner Caryn Weber says her 3-year-old Landseer Newfoundland keeps all four paws on the floor when he drinks from the kitchen faucet in her family's eastern North Dakota farm house.

Boomer stares into car windows eye to eye with drivers. A 20-pound bag of dry dog food lasts the 180-pound canine a couple of weeks.

Weber says her furry black and white dog "comes into the house and his tail is so high everything gets knocked around."

Weber plans to send Boomer's measurements to Guinness World Records. The previous record holder was a nearly 4-foot-tall Great Dane that died this summer.

I did not see any picture of a Landseer Newfoundland. The picture is like a beagle or foxhound.

This is the Landseer Newfoundland.

Yes, I really like all the hound breeds, but allergies mean I always have hypoallergenic breeds.

Except for the rescued Pitbull I had years ago. I used my asthma inhaler a lot!!!

LOL! Actually, young bassets are extremely hyper dogs. They usually are hyper depending on the personality of your basset. One of mine is extremely hyper (like my old one was until she reached old age around 12-13) and the other one is very slow and could sleep all day. But they both get playing pretty rough and get hyper and wound up!

you know - yesterday I was riding motorcycle along this road in upstate NY. at the corner of my eye - I saw 2 dogs running across. I got startled cuz it was HHHHHHUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEEE and I thought it was a bear chasing after us. I looked again and it was Saint Bernard. I've never seen Saint Bernard in person because it's a rare sight around here but wow.... they're HUGE! I mean HUGE!
