Rabid Kitten Found at Annapolis Mall
Rabid Kitten Found at Annapolis Mall - Local News Story - WBAL Baltimore

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. -- The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is looking for anyone who may have come in contact with a feral kitten in the parking lot of the Westfield Annapolis Mall over the past few weeks.

Health Department officials said the kitten, who is about 8 to 10 weeks old, was found at the West Street entrance to the Sears on Aug. 5. It tested positive for rabies.

Anyone who handled or fed a cat fitting that description or handled any other stray cats in the vicinity within the past two weeks should call the county Department of Health immediately at 410-222-7256. After business hours, you can call 443-481-3140.

Anyone who has a pet that may have been bitten or scratched by the kitten should call county Animal Control at 410-222-8900.

Preventive treatment might be required for anyone who handled or fed the kitten, and treatment must be started as soon as possible, health officials said.

The Department of Health is advising county residents not to feed stray or wild animals or leave food dishes outside. Pet owners should also keep their animals’ rabies vaccinations current.

gimme 5 minute to whoever abandoned this kitten....(hiding the kali sticks)

I dont think anyone abandoned the kitty since it was identified as feral. It probably was born to an alley cat. There was a feral cat caught on my fence a few weeks ago. It was still alive but its leg was caught between the posts . I called animal control and later on, they called back saying that it had rabies. Oh shit!!!!! My son was the one who found it and tried to pet it but it was too high. I am sooo grateful for that to this day. Yes, it was put to sleep since it had rabies and its leg was torn up to the bone from being stuck on my fence.

yeah thats true. lots of cats are smart enough to survive on their owns in the bizzare places where no one knew how! I did not think of that one.

Kitten was found at hancock airport in syracuse ny last year. No idea how did kitten get there. that airport area is too busy around.

yea, an average housecat eats about 1,000 spieces of small animals and they have no problem surviving out in the wild for sure.
