Rescue group I'm involved in sent out reminder/warning about Bunchers- u know Bunchers? People who come and collect "bunches" of dogs to sell to labs, or to sell as bait for fighting dogs <in which case the fighting dogs are not at fault either>, or to sell for other types of "shady market" deals. The Bunchers just come in and take dogs from yards, sometimes breaking in, sometimes luring away with food, taken during the day, whenever - they just try to get as many as possible. One reason NOT to leave a dog unattended in a yard, regardless of fence, tie-out etc. Often occurs when season gets better in climate where you have that < as is where I am> or just when people start leaving their dogs outside more.

That is upsetting. I do let my dogs sit out in the sun in our fenced yard. Only when I am home and they don't stay out for long, but I must remember to watch more carefully.

My guys, as mostly adults <wouldn't do this with a young puppy> can go out briefly in our fenced yard so long as one of us is home. But we did have quite a time a few years back where we had a rash of "takings", including taking multiple dogs from yards and whole neighborhoods affected and the area pet supply shops put up warnings. Then I said to hubby that if the dogs are outside for a minute, we must go too. But when dogs are outside I look out windows frequently and often go out and check. They're not out there unattended for more than 10 minutes at a time. Also we live on a cul-de-sac which can be hard to find and the neighbor's yards also have lotta fencing so someone would have to find the house and scale multiple fences with 2 big dogs. If we were next to an alley or main street where people always passing by it'd be different. However, when it's very nice on a weekend and a lotta people, especially kids, out in the next-door yards and people out walking in the circle I then do go out there and stay out there with them. But I wouldn't leave the house/garage, even for a minute, and leave the dogs out in the yard.

White van has been implicated in some of this recent activity-
