I have heard of using salt before... I think it dries out the fleas and eggs.

I am cleaning freak ! The fleas and eggs are beating us ! When you walked outside the fleas are stuck in your sneakers or shoes. Open the windows, the fleas jump into the house through the screen. It is very difficult to prevent them !

Moth balls works wonder too, If you put several moth balls in your vacuum bag, it will also kill the fleas in your vacuum bag, you won't need to change your bag every time you vacuum.

I'm anti-Flea! Me and my husband don't like the carpet for many reasons. We want to have a wood floor. It's easy to clean! I really hate the flea! My dog got a flea once time from her mom gave her. It was happen when my dog was a puppy about 3 months old. Her mom was pregnant and breastfeeding. She can't take a flea treatment. It was suck!

The salt isn't working. Every flea eggs live inside of carpets. You have to use a "RAID to kill the Flea for carpet and room spray" If Fleas are everywhere in the house. You have to buy about 10 Raid. It's 2 much cleaning up. Make sure do not use vacuum before spray. You have to use RAID spray whole of house's carpets and rooms before you leave home. You can go sleepover at family or friend or stay at hotel for 1 night. You can come return to home and vaccum. It will be CLEAN! I learned it from my husband. He did that before with his ex gf's 4 cats.

Are his ex gf's cats dead? I hope his ex-gf boarded (kennel) her cats before your husband sprayed the house with RAID! RAID is poison!

I wouldn't use RAID around my cats. I sure don't want to come home to three dead cats, thank you very much!

I am afraid this is an urban legend.

You aren't supposed to pour salt on the carpet, they can harm your pets.

Two of my relatives work in the carpet industry, I will have to ask them about it.

She said she learned the tips from her husband when he had 4 cats with his ex girlfriend, how it worked best. She did not stated anything about cats were still in the house while the husband sprayed raid. It's best to ask Pinky before you blast.

I guess you didn't see where I said that I hoped his ex-gf boarded her cats before the house was sprayed with RAID.

I'm glad to know that! Sometimes some people don't think to take their pets out of the house while they fumigate or use Raid all over the house.

I was about to suggest this! If someone has an serious problem with fleas and ticks, a fogger would be the best way to deal with the problem! We've used them before. If the person has pets, they must figure out a way to keep them outside for a period of time. Most foggers suggest up to 4 hrs. If you have a cat or cats, you can temporarily crate them. Same with a puppy. For an adult dog, you can simply let them outside if you have a fenced area.

Well, fleas, etc are everywhere, not just because of carpet.

If humans need to leave the house, then the pets should also leave the house.

Bird pets are very sensitive to fumes, so owners should ask their vets if it's OK for them to be exposed after bug bombs are used.

One danger is that people use too many bug bombs at one time, or they set them off near gas pilot lights. That's a no-no. People need to carefully read the directions.

We prefer to use the bug bombs once a year in our garage, attic and storage buildings. But first we make sure there are no bird or squirrel nests inside.

I hope that the lizards escape the fumes but I don't know if they do. I haven't found any dead ones, so I guess they do escape.

Right, you use common sense and also there's directions on the back of the Raid, where it stated to remove pets and birds.
