Ha ha ha ha, good posts, Wolfie and Vampy. My cat seems to know I'm deaf and never opens his mouth to meows but hangs on the screen door so I can see he wants in or sits on my keybord to get out.
My entire reason to exist on this planet is to open doors and keep the cat feeder silo full. |

My late cat used to poke his head around the doorway from the telephone table seat to let me know that the TTY was ringing as I had forgotten to put the ringer back on. He was marvellous for us .... a hearing cat!

Since he was deaf, we couldn't get him to use his voice. At the same time, we had another dog... his brother... who was hearing. This became a huge challenge with training them. We tried to get the hearing dog to bark when he wants in or out, but he looks up to the deaf dog. We tried to get the deaf dog to bark, but he can't hear. Even if the hearing dog barked, the deaf dog would not always know if it was a bark or a yawn. Even if both are resting next to each other. If the hearing dog twitches his ears for some reason and the deaf dog sees it, the deaf dog would bark like crazy. If the hearing dog hears the deaf dog barking, he will think that the deaf dog knows something... so he starts barking too. After a few moments, they will realize that they're barking at nothing... so they eventually stop barking and lay back down.
