Does the smell of cat food make you puke?

I fed my cat ocean platter out of the tin tonight, and the smell of it caused me to vomit.....

Did it happen to you or is it just me?

More importantly, how's the cat? Lol! Ooops, sorry to hear that your supper re-visited you! It was a kangaroo steak and fried potatoes, right?

That is why, I am avoiding to feed sea food to my cats during this season. Warmer weather causes the food become odor. It is extremely disgusted when you smell it !

I only feed chicken and beef food to my cats ! Not the seafood ! Yucky!

It happens.

My suggestion would be to hold the dish away from the direction of your face when walking and to hold your breath (or simply breathe through your mouth) while filling the dish and putting the dish down. (When breathing through your nose, you smell it. When breathing through your mouth, you don't really smell it.)

Example: Pull the can of cat food from the pantry. Open the can with a can opener (while looking away). Pour the food in the dish (while holding your breath). Hold the dish with your right hand to your right side (or behind) while walking. Place the dish down (while holding your breath).

If you have some wind or air flow, be sure your face isn't downwind from the dish. (If holding the dish to your right puts you downwind from the dish, hold it to your left instead.)

Hah! He wouldn't cared about the fact I vomited after feeding him. By the way, he enjoyed his fishy feast.

Steak would be quite a expensive luxury! Perhaps you would be kind enough to shout him a steak. He'd be very appreciative. He'll even lie on your lap in return for the steak. Hehe

Well, we're undergoing winter now so it's not summer. And yet I can smell the odour of cat food from the tin.

Hope I won't get sick again tonight as I feed him the same thing!

Worth a try, thanks Vampy. But I 'd carry out the tin outside and dump some of it in his bowl. It doesn't matter how far I hold the tin away from me. It's not enough to stop me from gagging or vomiting.

Seems I have a sensitive gag reflex and even more sensitivity toward seafood.

Nope, it has not made me throw up, but I knew to hold my breath when feeding my grandmother's cats. Cat foods do smell foul.

Miss-Delectable,

Ouch, maybe ya could get someone to feed your cat the seafood, until that tin is finishes, and perhaps ya could feed your cat an beef or other cat food tin.

I never had a throw up feeling when I used to feed 35 cats at the cattery with couple of different types of cat foods (seafood, beef, chicken, lamb etc)
