"had to put a horse down today"

I Know its not belong in general thread .....

About one hour less ago I got a aim from my neighbor Mike , his horse's board and there filly had what mike and owner thought was a broken or dislocated leg. I drove over and sure enough, this beautiful, promising three-year-old white arabain filly ( very nice dish face !) had broke her leg just above the knee.
wasn't a mark on her, we walked the small field and found no hole, or area that she might have fallen into, no break in the fence - nothing! All we can figure out is that she was playing and took a wrong step. So Mike and I stayed with her and put the filly down with the vet while the neighbor (owner) went to the home.
she raised this filly from a baby. just the sweetest, nicest filly.. This is killing me. I can only image how hard it is for her. And I was having such a good day too. So now Later today ..... Mike and other men are going to haul the horse out of the pasture for the pick-up while the neighbor is leaving to her sister house so she doesn't have to deal with it anymore than she has to.

I just went home with fully soak from rain then I got off my truck and run to my backyard and grab my Mare Rosie' mane then hold hard hug her and outburst Crying. because I am raised Rosie since she was 6 months old filly and now 7 years old..............sooo I just got out of shower and dry clothes

My boyfriend is working until really late and can't be around to be my shoulder to cry on. I'm just trying to hold it together for my neighbor. Thanks for taking the time to "listen"

Phillips

I am sorry to hear this. It is so difficult. I wish that she shouldn't give it up because my sister has a horse, and her leg was broken or dislocated from a horse race. She was rescued and moved to her farm. Her horse was sent to a horse treatment program. It took 9 months for the horse back normal. Now, I still see the horse at her farm. Her horse health bill isn't cheap. She made the choice to save the horses.

You are not alone. My sister had a favorite horse two years ago. She was passed away. I understand how you feel about it. She decided not to put a picture in her house. She just goes on her life, and keep her busy. My friend had one, and she has to keep her busy without thinking of her horse, too.

My aunt had to give up her horse years ago when she moved. I don't know what happened to her horse, but it was many years ago when I was a kid.

I had a horse when I was young, his name was Red. I'd jump on hm and go up the Gabriels when I supposed to be doing my homework. I miss him.

I understand the feel of losing a horse.
