Interesting......And thanks Angel for the links!

Ohio’s vicious dog law requires that owners of pit bulls confine their dogs in a pen with a top or in a fenced yard or by chaining, control the dog with a chain link leash or a muzzle when in public, and purchase $100,000 liability insurance. If the pit bull has been debarked, it is confiscated and killed and the owner is subject to felony charges.

Dog Owner's Guide: Dogs and the law

I love Ohio's law.

I wish you the best of luck Cheri, Please go to the animal control office and get the help that you, your kids and your dog's safe sake.

It doesnt matter what kind of dog it is as long as they are on the leash or fence in. My next door neighbor dog was put down due to him biting at someone else and he is not a pitpull. He is a big chow dog. Yup. He was such a nice dog til few years later, it happened. He also almost bite me. So yea it was sad time and I understand the situation.

Cheri, great venting and welcome back

Yes I know how you feeling about pitbull... I would have the same feeling as you as well because of bad reputation.

It must be scary when the owner let pitbull go without leash...

The pitbull's owner is an ignorant and disrespectful person... *shake my head disgusit* It's good to know that there're Leash Law in your area then you can call police on them....!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would call police on them if they show their disrespectful when I were you.

You have 2 adorable boys and dog, you think about... You has the right to call police on them because it's about safety...

Cheri - if the pitbull still walking thru your property.. try be nice to the owner, and ask the owner nicely, go like this.. Don't snap at them, just ben friendly and politely.. If you do, it will make it worse, and they would ignore, and you call the cop and dog warden on them, and they would knock your door down and hurt you.

"Hey, Joe (whatever their names are), I want to talk to you.. I would like to be your friend, but you know I am scare of big dogs, and I just want you to put leash on your dogs, just please, if you ignore my respect, there will be more problem, so please put leash on your dogs."

Like you care about them and be friendly with them, and worry about your dogs and kids. I am sure they want you to put on leash on your dog Charlie too.

I disagree w/other owners who doesn't even care about your property and let their pitbull dog roam on your yard property. This owner really have no respect remarks towards to neighbor! By the way, If the owner doing it again stubborn and let pitbull dogs roam over your yard again. You have to dial the animal control and speak it out to the police officer. You can show them the website of OHIO by laws.. your speak it out rights.

VodkaBoulevard,

Of course, I do understand matter or your sitaution but people have fear w/Pit bull dogs that their good reason. So um, Your pitbull dogs prefer finds their own territory property. Do you allow your pitbull can dare use neighbor's property and poured their own territory's property spot!? Y or N ?
As long you can respect your neighbor property. That would be feel fair for everyone comfortable with your dog. similar alike other people who not feel comfortable when near your pitbull dog. You'll say don't be afraid..! My dogs are great and cute! Never never never say that, be try remember whoever have fear the large dog or pitbull dog their traumatized memory!
Hope it helps you understand?

So, when both dogs were indoor, I spotted the owner outside, I got a hold of him, told him that he should put a leash on the dogs and not having them running around my yard and his respond was "Oh they're good dogs, They won't hurt you", I don't care how good they are, they need to be on a leash period, and he goes on saying "Oh just mind your own business" WTF?! I started getting really pissy with him and told him "My kids and my dog makes it my business so if anything happened to them, I'll be holding you responsible, so get your dogs leashed up or I'll call the cops the choice is yours? Which is it?!" Gawd! What's with those pet owners?!!

I don't care how good or well behave any dogs are, they should be on leash at all times, and I care about my children's safely and as well my dog, Charlie's safely too. I mean do I have that right to feel safe? Where's the frigging respect? Damn!!
You aren't alone... I don't like pitbull too.

I remember about last 10 years ago, we found pitbull that came to our property, also I tried to play outside and enjoy myself until pitbull is came and get in our property then I started feel like more threated and report to my parent then my mom was popped the mini ball with small arrow and hit on pitbull's body then ran away and never happened again. I understand that she want taking good care of me and don't want to get bite or kill me.

Now, it's not good idea to pop the mini ball with small arrow because it can considered to be animal abuse and make owners so upset. I asked you to call police in non-emergency phone number via relay service, if not then dial 911 and they will tracking your address then explain to police about what happened. I hope that they will confiscate your neighbor's pitbull and charge on owner...

That's UNACCEPTABLE for pitbull to get in your property, such as abuse in property.

here's those pitbulls that i've.

they're great pitbulls dogs

HOLY SHITTY!! That is WAY TOO MANY dogs you got.. In state of West Virginia, every owner who want pitbull, they must own only 1 pit bull, not 2 or 3 or 4.. Seem like you got more, and you will face more trouble in the future.. So you got to be careful when your dogs get a little aggressive with other animals or people.

Last week I went to a desert junk yard looking for ebay stuff for my personal ebay account, I was greeted by 3 spiffy pitbulls and I was frightened at first but then they got real friendly with me.

Hope it helps you understand?

My neighbor(S) loves my dogs to death - there's 8 houses in this row every neighbor have dogs (various) kinds my next door have two wolfs, we often get together during the morning and night so does the dogs. BTW, nextdoor is a police officer, and the next two neighbor is doctor at UCI.

My pitbulls roaming around, they give a chance to get know the dogs more. Do not interpret pitbulls in the wrong ways, because there have bad raps about it.

See how hearing people interpret deaf people? (for ex. hearng person walk and saw deaf person comes with "CP" and all of suddenly the hearing person SAYS every deaf people are HANDICAPPED) hearing person interpret deaf person in WRONG WAY.

Same idea goes with the dogs.

Your point is not valid. I love the dogs from the size xs to grande large dogs. Despite any kind of breeds.

If you keep the dogs seperate from the others - they will gain aggressive and of course they will attack with no doubts.

I have approach with varies breed of the dogs, some dogs from the street, some dogs from the public park, s ome dogs from whereever you name it. I always WALK Up to the dog, and try to get his/her attention, take her in my vehicle with leash/collar (there's only leash/collar) available in my vehicle. FIrst thing what I'd do - walk around the community to find out if this dog belongs to anyone, if none - I'd keep the dog in my house for a week, and post the missing ads, and let the animals control be aware about this.

nothing happens, then i'd cotnact the outreach animals community to find a new home for the dog.

little history - NO one in my family likes pitbulls in the past, they were VERY afraid of them just because of the "MEDIA" and the "STORIES" I've adopted two 8 weeks old pitbulls and brought them to home - my family gives pitbull A CHANCE - however, they FALL IN LOVE with the pitbulls, same thing goes with my neighbors, They were worried how the pitbulls will react -however, they gave the times to get to know the pitbulls - they LOVE 'em to death and even asked me if I'd breed the two girl pitbulls. I'm like nah. There's plenty of homeless animals out there that need home.

if you'd understand my position if you see a drunk mother wanderng in the community, and there's a little girl who constantly crying is the daughter of drunk mother - will you stand there, and yellin what to do? or you'd walk up and try to solve the situation.

BullyMother - as you states - Never never never say that, be try remember whoever have fear the large dog or pitbull dog their traumatized memory!

My question - Why would the individual let the media brainwashes the individual about the pitbulls? the individual have NO experience with pitbulls, I don' tsee any why to be very afraid of the pitbulls just because of media?

btw, I read the other thread about that you have bulldogs.

Honest - In the past, I've always think the bulldogs are ugly dogs ever, not just bulldogs but include (pug), yorkshine terriers, n etc. I told my friends about it, one person were pissed, and told me that I need to open up my mind more about this. Why?

differend breed of dogs may be different, just remember that they're dogs - they earn the same rights. despite the type of breeds.

same thing goes with people's nationally. - black people, ew - or whatever, nah it's so WRONG. Black, asian, or whatever - they're human beings - treat 'em the equally despite of their skin colors.

This is a good example - Richard gave pitbulls a chance, even though he were frightened of the pitbulls.

Oh well, I think that CA have less strict law about pitbull than other state does but other states have different law that will make restricted on pitbull.

I used to live in LA before and more pitbull are found, even more than in Chicago.

Excuse me, I said OC is part of LA metro or Greater LA area but it's not involving under LA County but for borderline then they are separate like San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventra. I'm not going to make more debate since wikipedia is proof for you, also that fine with me.

FYI, I lived in LA for 13 years before left to Chicago in 2006.

You're right 67% Pitbulls are in the animals shelters in OC. You tell me, most of the people have the time for pitbulls? Pitbulls demand plenty of attentions. 16 hours out of 24 hours in a day. Most of the time the owners can't give the sufficent attention for the dogs because of work, school, n etc- Of course, the pitbulls become very aggressive n etc. Pitbulls is very unique dog breeds that insist 16 hours of attentions.

I don't like the idea how the pitbull owner become "implusive buyer" they went ahead adopt the pitbulls without research what the pitbull dogs demands, and its needs. It takes lot of patience, most of the people I know they do not have patience with the pitbulls.

YouTube - The TRUTH About Pit Bulls (It's a sad/good clip about pitbulls)

Like plenty of deaf people don't like that hearing people treat deaf people like they're handicapped - narrow minded, n etc -

that goes to my perspective for those people who think pitbulls are awful. :/
