My next step is to get a license and get a Laughing Kookaburra -- although I don't think I will keep one officially in a cage, but maybe I will try to be a wildlife carer. That means if any animals are injured, I could take them in and nuture them back to health and then release back to the wild.
I wouldn't mind caring a koala, but they do smell (stink of strong eucalyptus)....a cockatoo and a kookaburra would be cool!

Cheers,
Goldie

Here's a picture of the Laughing Kookaburra....next picture will be the Sulfur-Crested Cockatoo. Both birds are natives of Australia. I had previously thought the Cockatoo was native to South Africa or other country, oops. Heheh.

I held a koala 3 years ago at Currumbin Sanctuary in Queensland when I went up there for a working holiday with 2 clients from my work. I have a picture of me holding a female 3 year old koala. Just have to scan it and post it here.

Yeah Pinkster...they're absolutely REAL!!! Heheheh! I have hand fed kookaburras a number of times at my aunt and uncle in law's home in country Marysville. It's an incredible sensation seeing them snatching a piece of meat out of my hand! I even got lucky in petting a few of them before they took flight.

Oh, the poor bird! Would you be able to remember and recognise what it looked like? You could google a search on Hawaiian native birds and see if you could find a picture of it? So you could have an idea of what kind of bird it was and hopefully you can find out what has happened to the bird.

If I want a bird or bird for pet. I'd pick Kookaburra and Macaws as well African Grey bird. Really, any birds that can talk as well laugh.
