I created a thread at 3 years ago and still disagree with German law...
Would you do when you see animals run over to road?

I know that animals are senseless & run over suddenly front of the car but I always drive slowly because I know wild animals are everywhere. I drive slowly & check & make sure the car behind the back then drive slower….

Accord German law between animal & human:
I am on the responsible for cause car accident if I stop suddenly when the animals are on the road. I don’t agree with German law because the driver will be on responsible to hit behind the back of my car if I stop suddenly when the humans are on the road but animal? I can’t see the difference between animal & human.

I’m not agreeing with German law because I want animal being treat the same as human.

What do you think?

Come to discuss with us here & share your experience with us here.

It happened again yesterday...

I aware that wild animals are everywhere in my and next villages...I am still drive slowly because I know wild animals are everywhere and make sure the car behind the back then drive slower….

The countryside road, my hubby drove on his way to work everyday and warn me about wild animals... and many cats... I aware his warning...

Anyway, I drove on the same road where my hubby drove on his way to work everyday to drop Alan off at scoocer training... I stayed there to watch him... and then drove together back to home... suddenly I saw one cat who sit middle of countryside road... it look like that she want to kill herself or what? I drove very slower and saw the car behind my back... I tried to frighten her away but it doesn't work... I got the driver behind my car the attention with light... and tried to warn him... I turned right light to drive away from the middle road...then driver can follow me but he didn't... He just drove straight instead of follow me and then stop and wait for me... He :pissed: on me and said that he nearly hit my car because of that cat... I was like :eek2: and told him that I did not stop but give him attention/warn light then he will know I'm trying to tell him. He laughed and said that he has seen it's cat, I am concern about... and going on insisted that he nearly hit my car... and said that he is going to call police on me... Alan label him as "cat-killer"... It makes him angry more... I calm Alan down and said to not say this to him... I told a driver that we have to go now... He said NO, I have to stay and wait for police come case he will sue me for "Hit and run away"... I gave him *sigh* impression and said that our car are not damaged... - I didn't hit his car or he didn't hit my car either... and drove off and leave a driver stand with mobile phone...

I dropped Alan off at my house and check Danny is in... and told them what happenend... Danny was like *shake my head*... then I went off to Fitness Studio to have Sauna (it's my Sauna at wednesdays). One and half hour later I came home... My both boys told me that 2 police were here... and will come back again by 9.00 pm... I was like  and said okay with *shake my head sigh*... 20 minutes later police are here... I offered them in my house and let them to question me. Police reminded me about German Traffic law about animal on road... I told them everything then asked them either what I did is disobey German Traffic Law? They said if my car are being hitted by other car because of cat then is YES... I told them that I didn't stop and wait for cat go but drive away from middle road slowly... Police said that what I did is very lucky what if other car come... I said nothing and doesn't bother to argue this with them... I said to police that I will not state any further without lawyer if they think I disobey German Traffic Law. The police said "oh no, what you did is right to protect animal but next time more carefully..." I was like  and told them that I did gave a driver the warning/attention light...before I turn right and away from middle road. They understood that I want to protect animal... I told them that it's not only animal, I want to protect but my tyres as well... I just got it new... Police understood and said that it's his duty to accept complaint and check with us... I understood... Alan told police in :pissed: way to arrest a driver for kill the cat... I love Alan's movement when he talked to police... :giggle:

*Phew* nice conversation with police.... That driver... *shake my head*

Well, I have seen a lot of dead cats, dogs, chimpucks all over the road where I lives. I wanted to save them, but I can't, there are a lot of cars, trucks, coal trucks, 18-wheels trucks on that road, if I stop for those animals, I will get run over by the car or truck or coal truck and I will get kill.

I have never kill any cats or dogs (Knock the wood), but I have ran over a squirrel and skunk *phew*. They were in my way and I can't stop them, cause I was going like 45 mph and all vehicles were go fast.

It's nice to see you have a soft heart for those animals.

Umm I'm sort of confused here, IF you didn't hit the driver's car or the cat then why did the polices stopped by? and if the other driver didn't hit your car either, I still don't understand why you had to wait for the police to arrived....This story got me soo confused....

IF nothing really did happened, then why is it needed for the police to be involved?

How can you prevent animals from running across the street right in front of your vehilce? It's impossible to prevent from happening. Sometimes they come out of nowhere and gets in front of your vehicle and you ran right into an animal. It's just an accident that can happen anywhere at anytime.

Oh yes, I often saw dead cats, deers, squirrels, birds, hedgehodge, etc. on the road... :ugh3: I never hit animals in my life *knock my wood*... I drove very slowly because I know the countryside road where the animals often are around.

What about human? If human run suddenly front of my car?

Wow, different law...

I never run over any animal on the roads *knock the wood* and, few times when I saw a cat, a dog, a bird, two squirrels and four kittens died on the side of road, it hurt my heart and I decided to stop by and picked them up in the towel and drove to any places that is very blank and near by my home, I buried them to respect them.

Also once, my best friend and I saw a dog that is my favorite breed, we stopped and I watched over it on the middle of road and having my best friend called police since it could caused car accident because it's basset hound dog and look like over 10 years old, it already died for awhile... Then, police man finally came in and took it over to the side and I asked him to find a owner of that dog's until that man who is owner of that dog arrived up and got upset, he said that he ran away in few hours or so ago, tried to find him but cannt find him since they live in County, not like village or city... I felt bad and I admit that I did cry for that dog because it already died, even that owner wish that he know who did to his dog then he could sue him for "killing a dog on the road without telling"

Michigan's laws are; if you run over an animal on the road, call the police to letting them know so they will take care of it for you and call an owner to checking to seeing if they lost that animal without getting any trouble

Because once, a man ran over a dog on the road and police man saw it and, he left without stop, so police man stopped and picked dog up and rushed up to the vet to safe that dog, but lucky that dog is alive but having two ribs and a leg broken... Then police man called an owner and having her come up to check on that dog and she asked him if he did see anyone hurt her dog and he admit yes then she told him to arrest him for that, police man did and he got fine 3,500 dollars for that happened... :|

That´s simple is a driver is try to sue me for disown traffic law and animal because he want to claim for "shock/injured" - He´s "scared" to risk his life for hit back of my car but it doesn´t work because I convinced police with my story.

That´s right I did not stop suddenly to let the car from behind to hit back of my car but drive real slowly and gave attention/warning light for the driver then he should not hit back of my car when when I spot cat sat subborn on the middle of countryside road. (villiage road).

No, I did not wait for the police to arrive because I know I did nothing wrong & not even break traffic law. I ignored his threat for sue me for "hit and run away" if I refused to wait with him for police to arrive and told him that he didn´t damage back of my car or I didn´t stop to let him to hit my car. I didn´t wait with him but drove off to home and leave him stand with mobile phone. We arrived our house to drop Alan off and check Danny in my house... stay for few minutes then drove off to Fitness studio and forget a driver´s threaten because I thought the police can´t do anything because his car didn´t damage by my car. Surprisely, the police took a driver´s report serious and check with me but I was not in the house but my boys. My boys told police that I am in Fitness Studio. Police said that they come back again 9.00 pm... Yes, I´m agree that it´s waste of time for police to check with me because a driver´s car is not damaged by me... *shake my head* I told Police that I know it´s my responsible if my car are being hitted by him for stop to save animal´s life but I didn´t stop but drove slowly and try to give him attention with warning light to move away from middle road...

It´s police´s duty to remind me to not stop suddenly if the animal run front of my car... etc... Of course I asked police what if human run front of my car then? Police answered that I have to stop suddenly... the driver behind my car is responsible for hit back of my car if I stop suddenly to save human´s life but not animal... If I stop suddenly to save animal´s life then is my responsible for let driver to hit back of my car. I´m disagree with German law for treat human and animal differently. Oh Well... That´s how a driver find an excuse to blame me for "body harm" because he is "shock" and "scared" for risk his life for nearly hit my car... He must have known when he see I drove slowly and give him warning light...

I don´t mind to explain again if you still confused my post.

That´s super law... I wish German should follow those law to take care of animal...

Alan, my son told police to arrest a driver for ran over a cat... Police can´t do anything but smile at him... :ugh3: human... oh yessssss  What a unfair...

Right Liebling, you didn't do anything wrong so there's absolutely no reason for the other driver to tell you that you should wait for the police officer to arrive since there was no accident involved...Of course sometimes we may almost run into another car, but why call the police?....It doesn't make sense...sounds like the driver was being greedy expecting something out of this...

I haven't ran over any animals lately either *knocking on the wood*

Liebling, that's depends if it was done on purpose, then yeah but if it was an accident then it was an accident, I don't think they should be charge for running a pet over by an accident...

But if someone ran over an animal and didn't pull over by checking to see if the animal was still alive or needed to be taken to a vet, then yes something should be done, cause it cruel to have an animal suffering and slowly dying...I mean we don't do that to human so why do this to animals?...

The guy who killed my bulldog Casper...
He thinks it's animal... *wham* and get off Oh oppiSe It's DOG...
came and knock the door... I looked at him... I can smell his breath drinking... replied say white dog... sorry i hit..
I ran outside and checked.. damn him! He is middle the yellow line.. I checked where hit first... that where my mail post stand.. stand *wham my dog* Flies over and landed on the middle road..
Made me pissy off and screaming at him.. YOU'RE MURDER MY DOG.. He hurried and left faster.. good thing My friend wrote and copied their license plate!
I phoned OPP (Ontario Provincial police) and came over my place.. Explained what happened.. I smell his breath drinking.. Police checked my dog.. and said.. just animal.. WTF.. I scream at police.. you're full moron, why can't you protect animal and humans.. Police stunned surprised I was really angrily.. Yeah right, My rights voice raise higher because not very nice... due my investment bulldog.. I already shown police of CKC and breeder paper.. Police say cannot do anything you have to contact CKC.. Police left..
I pissy off big time.. Next day.. I called CKC and explained what happened.. CKC really not happy w/Police 100% and contact them.. finally went well smooth but told there's no license plate.. I was so hell pissy off... and found out that police's grandfather's driving.. No wonder why protect his granny?
I file complaint and against them... turn it out cold case!

We are not happy out there but love this farm house.. decide to move out of this place.... and settled closer to our work..

What about human? If human run suddenly front of my car?

It would be the person's fault if he/she ran across the street without looking both ways before crossing, it will not be the driver's fault. But, it would be soo hard to proved that unless there's a witness that saw what happened. :)

Accidents do happens. Animals don't know the rules about crossing the roads. In here by law, if someone hits a dog, or deer, you have to call the animal control and cops. If it was dog, they'll contact the owner but the problem is there is a lot of strays roaming around and don't know who the owner is. As for humans, they can be so dumb. At night time, I can't see a person walking down the street because he was wearing all dark outfits. So it's the person's fault. They are suppose to carry a flashlight or wear a reflector. In daytime is depends on the drivers and pedestrains.

Same here. If no harm was done, then what's the complaint:

Wow, it sounds like that man is a big baby! If he is so easily "shocked/injured" maybe he shouldn't be driving!

... I told Police that I know it´s my responsible if my car are being hitted by him for stop to save animal´s life...
I still don't understand how it could be your fault. If someone hits you in the rear it's their fault because they are following too close, and driving too fast.

It´s police´s duty to remind me to not stop suddenly if the animal run front of my car... etc... Of course I asked police what if human run front of my car then? Police answered that I have to stop suddenly...
Suppose you don't stop for a cat that runs out in front of your car? Then, the little boy chasing the cat runs out. Too late to stop. Pow! You hit the kid. That's the reason that it's important to stop, even for animals.

... If I stop suddenly to save animal´s life then is my responsible for let driver to hit back of my car.
I still think it's the other driver's fault for not driving at a safe speed and distance.

... That´s how a driver find an excuse to blame me for "body harm" because he is "shock" and "scared" for risk his life for nearly hit my car...
That's not a man--that's a cry baby!

you are right about that, that's why police man fined that man who ran over the dog without stopping check to making sure it's ok or anything like that.. They wouldn't fine anybody who stop to checking anything and let owner know or whatever like that. I sometime dislike people who don't have heart for animals. Who agree with me eh? I know that they are being human but, still animals are almost like kids, you know what I mean by that?
