Deaf Boxer Puppy needs home (Houston, TX area)

Hello Everyone,
I am looking for a home for an 11 week old boxer puppy. He is deaf. I thought someone in the deaf community might be able to understand and relate better to him than someone who can hear. We live near Houston, Texas. I am asking a $150 adoption fee to cover the cost of the vet care he has recieved thus far (ie. tail docking, dewclaw removal, two rounds of puppy shots, and heartworm and flea preventative). I am not trying to sell him for a profit, I just want to make sure he goes to a good, loving home. (His littermates sold for $500.) He needs to be an indoor dog because white boxers sunburn when exposed to the sun for long periods of time. This does NOT mean he can't be outside at all, it only means if you go somewhere he will be in direct sunlight for hours on end, you should make sure to apply sunblock to the top of his ears and nose just as you would a child. Please let me know if anyone in this area is interested in providing a home for this little guy, or knows of someone who would be. Thanks!

I have been looking at dogs who are deaf... since a month.. it was hard to make decisions what breed.. since i have 6 children..

Dalimations-- long hard hours to work with.. thats their tendency..

Aussie/Border/shepard-- very active, always must go-go..

Boxer--- easy and great for families.. very confident & sceure... We are looking for that kind..

Lab/retriever--mix (german & etc).. are great for family and great to work with.. good listener..

so hard to find those deaf dogs that what we wanted..

Boxergirl---Unfortunely--we live far apart.. wish you luck and its great posting here.. hope someone consider to adopt your deaf boxer soon!.. hang in there..

I would be willing to drive a reasonable distance to take him to his new family if someone had a great home to offer him.

Thanks, Downing. I don't think you'd want to do airplane transport. It is around $250 if I'm not mistaken, and there are certain times of the year that they won't allow dogs to travel on the planes. I think it is during the really hot and really cold months. I think now in Texas would qualify as very hot! It is about 97 degrees and VERY humid, making the heat index about 105! I'm only letting the dogs play outside really early in the mornings, and late in the evenings when it's cool out. I appreciate your help. He's a really sweet dog and is going to make someone an excellent pet!

The Puppy has found a home!!!

Thanks for all your hard efforts MsGiglz! I really appreciate it. I have been trying to find him a home since he was 8 weeks old with no luck, so I am very relieved. Unfortunately, the family who adopted him does not have any deaf people, but they do have another deaf dog, so they have some experience and the dog they have was well taken care of. He seemed very healthy and happy. I was a little tempted to keep him myself, but my husband said "NO WAY!" because I already have four other boxers one of which is a deaf boy I rescued because the lady was going to have him put to sleep because she found out he was deaf. People are so stupid!! That lady made me want to hit her. So, now he is a happy, well loved member of our family. I don't envy you with 6 kids, it's a wonder you aren't crazy. There were eight kids in my family, I don't know how my mom stayed sane! My husband and I don't have any skin kids. We just have the four dogs and five horses, so we think our family is quite big enough for now. I do wish you well in your quest for a dog. I think you are making an excellent choice. Once you have a boxer, you will never want to be without one again!

Aww, I am happy for him!!

Like you said some people put sleep just because few "small" disability...it really ticks me off..

we give them good home no matter what condition they are in.. if serious health or disability that they are in "pain" and permenant.. that will be different... even if they are dangerous bit and vicious.. that's sadly thing to put in sleep.. protect people and children plus pets too..

People needs to know pets are same as human.. treat them same.. they cant just take out on them because they dont tell.. but they do tell and sufferings from it..

I always wanted to have ranch with alots of acres.. for all those unwanted or homeless animals.. it will be great effort for our kids too, to work together that they can become what career they want to be in future.. hehe.

well thanks so much for posting and try your best effort for this darling deaf puppy.. wish you so well and happy livable life!
(hugs).

She was going to put the dog to sleep just because he's DEAF?... Good grief ..

I'm glad you decide to find a home for him who can raise a deaf dog....
