Well my nephew cried and won't come home without the puppy.
But my mom said noooo, so she went ahead and brought the puppy home. And my nephew is happy. And now my mom is going to the store to buy milk. And I don't know what kind of dog she is... I don't know if she will get real big... She is white.... she looks like a labatory or a retriever... It is my nephew's first puppy. Is it normal for the puppy to sleep all day? I think she was born this month or last month, I don't know.

My nephew said, that the puppy and her sister were abandoned...
left on the street... My nephew kept the white puppy and his cousin kept the brown puppy. It had no baby shot and my mom said she won't take it to the vet... but I guess I might have to, to see what is wrong with it. Or is it too soon to take it to the vet?

Puppies usually sleep for 16 to 18 hours just like a baby.
Why is your mom buying a milk? Hopefuly its not for the puppy because it causes dirrhea. A simple water will do fine. I suggest get a crate, look like this. http://www.petstreetmall.com/kennels...es.aspx?id=485Crate is a safe place for a puppy to sleep or when no one is home to watch the puppy. Put that puppy in there. I have a question, what if the nephew didn't take care of the puppy. Is she willing to take care of it? I highly suggest her to take the puppy to the vet to get it check up for parasites. You never know what this puppy is carrying until you bring the puppy in for check up... Sometimes puppy can bring home diseases like ringworm, parasites, or other diseases. Also it needs to get a booster shots. Don't forget to bring the stool (fresh recently after dumping it). You don't need to wait for the puppy to get older to be seen by a vet, go ahead make an appointment now. Hope that everything is going well. If you need an advice on training, or anything let me know. I will be around

The puppy's name is Britney,
Can't give her milk? Should I buy a 3 or 4 weeks old puppy some puppy food? Yes my nephew is taking care of it.... but he will leave in August, and I have to take care of the puppy. Okay, I'll take it to the Vet.

I bet you will have so much fun taking care of her. I promise you! I'm curious is Brittany's teeth in already? I'm not concern about her front teeth, but the back. That is where she chews her food. If they aren't in, you will need to get a dry dog food and mix it with a little warm water to soft the kibble. Make sure to give her a lot of kisses and hugs! I'm happy for your nephew. |

Check this link: http://www.ehow.com/how_2257_remove-ticks-pets.html http://www.ehow.com/tips_2257.html http://www.bullwrinkle.com/index.htm....htm~indexmain I would recommend you to buy tick-tweezer for pets. It's easy to remove it with tick-tweezer. Chop one piece of garlic (not all of garlic but only one piece) and mix them with cat or dog foods. It helps because tick hate to smell of garlic. I did to my 2 cats once a week. Sussi, my soon to be 19 years old cat used to have tick until I learn the tip from the vet about garlic few years ago. No more ticks go Sussi. |

a) You can go to a petsmart store and ask an employees for a good puppy shampoo that kills ticks/fleas. You will need to read on the back of the shampoo to see if shampoo can be used on a young puppy. Sometimes they have a restriction on ages. If it says it works for all age, you will have to follow the instruction on the back of the shampoo. b) If Brittay is too young, you will have to do try a different option. This works, but takes forever! You will need to use a vegetable oil or rubbing alcohol put it on all ticks that you found. Don't put the oil/rubbing alcohol inside her ears (too senstive). Check her ears, her paws (check in the between her toes), and roll her on the back. c) Take her to the vet soon as possible, but this will cost you money. You can let them know that you found a tick. And ask them if they can do anything about it. They will take care of the problem for you. Depends on Brittany's age, they might will dip or give her a bath. Ask the veterinrian if lyme test is necessary. Don't forget to bring the stool! Very important! Make sure she get her first shots for parvovirus and distemper. D) You can try what others have suggested. If I were you, I would have chosen C. Usually people who have dealt with ticks before will know what they need to do. For a person who doesn't know a lot about dogs, I will prefer to get an advice from a vet how to treat them or have them treat it for me. After your vet visit, let me know what did the vet say about her appromiately age. Hopefully things are going well.. I suggest you not to let the puppy licks near your mouth or your nephew's. Try not to kiss her too much after you get the stool result from the vet. When Brittany needs to poop/pee, I suggest you to take her to one same spot all the time. Don't let her run around free. You don't know if she is carrying a parasite. Make sure you clean up after her fast as possible. I have a feeling, she might be carrying one. Many puppies that are found or abandoned on the street usually have parasites. |

Thanks, I couldn't go to the vet today. Because the puppy kept me up til 7 am, I was so sleepy. The puppy cried every 2 hours. It won't pee or poop in it's box. She rather pee and poop on my mom's rug. After that i went to bed at 7:30 am to make my nephew and mom get up and tend to it. It is teething and getting into everything.
I had hair appointment at 12:30 pm.... today. So I will take it to vet tomorrow. My mom, nephew, and I will be out of town next week, right now I am trying to find a puppysitter. But I did bought puppy chow last night and put water in them. Cool, garlic... I'll put some on her tonight. Thank all Okay, I got digital camera, I will put her picture on here, so pretty puppy she is.

I got back from Hawaii, and 4 people took care of the puppy, while we were gone.
And the puppy still knows us. Wow, I thought she would forget us, cause we were gone for 7 days. We decided to leave Britney in the playroom by herself, cause we will be gone all day Friday to Little Rock, Arkansas to see Clinton Museum, from 6am to 6pm. And I don't know if the puppy will be able to handle being in the playroom all day. Would it be a felony to leave a puppy unattended for 12 hours trip to Arkansas? I was gonna put newspapers all over the floor, and have food in bowl enough for 12 hours, and bowl full of water. I know that Britney is alittle clumsy... and would knock over her water bowl.... And yeah she would pee and poop everywhere in the playroom. I was planning to unplug the computer, tv, and everything, so she won't chew up the cord and get electrocuted, and so and so.... Or is it a bad idea? I told my mom to let the next door neighbor to take care of the puppy, cause Alice has her little old housedog, and I wonder if Alice would want to take care of Britney.... but my mom said, "no don't ask Alice, just leave the puppy in the room by herself for 12 hours." What should I do, I can't find a sitter?

Advise best find sitter would be safer look after your puppy. Leave your puppy at home within 12 hours.. isn't good. Can be cry out of loud for sure.. Neighbour may feel annoys hearing *whining loud* and might call animal control to get your puppy away. I advise you don't... Best find sitter..
Leave your puppy in the home max 6 hours only while you gone work.. Make sure trainned potty (use newspaper) and show your puppy go outside.. try encourge bathroom outside.. Will adapt adjust and go bathroom outside.. Will be great trainned as well. Good Luck your newest pet! |
