OT: cat.

I hate to bring this up, I am desparately trying to find a good home for my 5 1/2 yrs old cat. I have to find him a home because my youngest is allergic to the cat.

It is so so devasting news to us since we just lost another pet a month ago, black lab to a organization to have life saving surgery that we both could not afford at 7 thousand dollars. Long story, if you guys wanna hear, let me know.

My son's dr told me cat has to go or my son will suffer more consquecnes. My son is too young to take allergy medication since he is 9 months old, it was better recommended to take at 2 yrs....I am deparately frustrated because i do not want to put my cat at shelter that has ten days waiting period, no way jose'

Any recommendations or suggestions? I have posted my cat on www.petfinder.com, no response.. is it because he is an older cat??? I am so sad!!!!

Where can I find this picture of your cat?

I'd take your cat, but I already got 5 cats and 2 dogs living inside the house even tho my dad is allgeric to them and I won't be living at my parents' house in few more months from now because I plan to move out by the summer and the place I plan to move into doesn't allow pets (I will sorely miss my cats) til my roommate and I could find other place that would allow pets and then I'd be more than happy to have my cats with me and yours if I could. I hope that someone would pick up your cat soon. I'm also so sorry to hear that you have to give up your cat. I wish you the best of luck in finding a good owner.

I understand how you feel. You don't have to shame yourself what you want to give your cat a good home due your child's allergic problem. I would do the same as you when I learn that my children are allergic to pets.

Yes, I know it's hard to give your beloved pet away but your son's healthy comes first.

I don't think it's do with "older cat". The cat lovers would love to adopt older cat to give them attention and love.

What about Newpapers? It cost you nothing when you "donate" or "give away" for gratis. BUT I don't know about your country. Here in Germany yes.

or make a poster on the stores's window after get the permission from the store owner and explain the reason why you must give your cat away.

Okay, we rescued purebreed black labrador retriever from a rescue group, I was training her to be our hearing dog. Someone tried to break in our backyard, and shoved cable wires and corn on the cob that caused a severe obstruction in her stomach and instetines (sp? - seems I can't spell today!) while there was a bulgary in progress at the same time span. The police think they did intend to harm our dog to keep her quiet while they were able to do bulgary two houses from us. I was only gone for 30 minutes to pick up my boys from daycare, I came home from work first to let her go outside to do her potty break since she is crated while we are at work. This is wonderful Norman Rockwell neighborhood. Other dogs were being threated, we couldn't take risk to readopt our dog back from what happened to her.

It was gonna cost us $7,000 bucks to have life saving surgery done on our puppy, we didn't have that kinda of money upfront. We found a organization that was able to pay for her surgery. She almost died on the surgery table. She is being rehomed with a family that can afford to pay her remaining medical expenses that keeps climbing up. She was the best dog that ever happened to us, she was only 8 months old. Her name was Shiloh. Sigh, there you have the story.

Hope u will find her a good home. I do not want to see it to put to sleep, she is such a beautiful cat. Have you try in a paper, ask for a good home for ur cat?

Shiloh, cool. My dog whom I had to put her to sleep last year, her name was Shilo. I miss her dearly.

Where do you live, Downing?
It looks like a very nice cat. I wouldn't mind fostering it while you find somebody that you feel trusting enough to give your cat permanmently. That way your son can breathe better and the cat can live without worrying about the 10-days period. I cannot adopt another cat-- I already have a beloved cat and I cannot possibly afford another cat (nor have any space!).

The thing to keep in mind is that the cat adopts US, not the other way around.

I live VA near D.C. (Gally).

I have posted in newspaper, no luck. I am quite worried about my son, he is getting worse...I am trying and even possibly fly my cat out of state to Texas with my mom when she is here for the holidays.

I am trying to convince my grandmother to take him in. Dunno. Wait and see what will happen.

Say...I was wondering if you know whether this cat would get along with other cats? Also, if it's fixed, declawed and anything else that would be useful to know...cuz--

He is neutured, all up on his shots, declawed in front paws. he gets along with dogs. he has approached my neighbor cats. their cats did not like my cat because they were hissing at him, my cat just sat and stare at them. I think he will do just fine with other cats.

If I was to adopt this cat of yours, how much will it cost me to pay for shipping the cat to Ohio?...

Angel, there is a program where they transport pet from the old home to new home. I have done that a few times last year. It is very awarding thing to go. It called railroad or transport pet. You may find it in the Yahoo group.

I will find it and give it to ya.
