How far have you got, or is it just a word or two you are stuck on?

that's not how it works. A Thousand Years is a lyric for hearing people. you can't just translate it into ASL because it makes no sense.

I know nothing about this song, and here is full of deaf people who have no interest in your vocal music.

However, I am quite able to search for things, and here are videos of your song by many people in ASL. Copy them!

they're all hearing people. they're required to post a videos of songs in ASL for their ASL classes.

we deaf people don't listen to it and it does not make any sense to us. what you should do is do it in ASL to express your love or whatever to him.

Is this the song?

CHRISTINA PERRI - A THOUSAND YEARS LYRICS

If it is, it will help you with the concepts of the lyrics. See the highlighted phrases? If you click on them, the pop-up Song Notes are supposed to show the meaning that is behind the lyrics.

Once you know the real meaning/concept, then you can work on the signs.

BTW, is this some kind of vampire song?

After watching a few of the videos, I have a question.

When did the sign BAPTIZE become the sign for DIE?

Or the sign REST become the sign for LOVE?

Some of the youtube examples aren't so bad.

It takes time to weed thru them.

I didn't watch any of them as they bore me witless! But it certainly was easy to find.

It must be a popular song!

I only got halfway through the video, didn't recognize many 'signs' she was doing.

Does anyone else feel like "ASL" interpretations of hearing music is just a total joke? I can't stand all these youtube videos by hearing ASL students. As my own ASL fluency strengthens, my intolerance for unskilled hearing signers appropriating ASL for their little pet projects is increasing.

From now on, I will only be watching ASL videos that incorporate visual elements with the signing and are signed only by Deaf people or extremely skilled hearing signers. Signmark, D-PAN, that Captnlover guy, and a few others are the only ones worth watching.

No more of this ASL student garbage.

We had a deaf karaoke night recently and it was a lot of fun, I learned some new signs that night as I had the lyrics on a projector as well as on a screen for the performer. I also had a good speaker so you could feel the beat of the songs.
