Any Jack Reacher fan in here?

I've read every single of Lee Child's books and absolutely LOVE IT!!! In fact it is only fiction I ever really enjoy and cannot wait for the next book to come out.

WTF?! 60 reader and yet no reply?! Why would anyone come into a thread if it is about a character they have no idea about?

Well, there are so many good fictional characters by good authors as well.

Chill, dude. Some people may not know who Reacher is or Lee Childs is. Also, not everybody reads. People here like to see what a thread is about but they don't necessarily reply. That's OK.

At any rate, I HAVE read Lee Childs and am familiar with the Reacher series. I'm also not a big fan. Too dry and takes too long for me to get into the plot. Lee Childs writes a lot like Tom Clancy, and, I could never get into HIS books, either.

I've also read and LIKED: John Sanford, Michael Connelly, James Lee Burke, and Jonathan Keller. I've been a reader for years.

Personally I have not heard of either Lee Childs or Jack Reacher.

I do a lot of reading, but never came across this author.

I read a lot of mystery thriller fiction. I heard about Lee Childs from my Dad, but, there is also a site for those of us who like mystery thrillers.

I really like:

I have all the books, and they are excellent!! He's a hell of a lot more violent in the last one...almost like he's getting fed up with all the corruption he finds and he's going all out. He's a great character and I would love to see an HBO series with Reacher.

I would love to be like Reacher...

I keep up with Reacher and James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux books. Burke's books are beautifully written; word painting.

Have you read Burke's last Robicheaux book?

I will when I can get it from the library. Right now it's too popular.

Has anyone read James Lee Burke's Billy Bob Holland books?

YES! Tore my heart out! There was something about this book that just made it clear that "The End Is Nigh..." I don't want to give any spoilers, but this one and Tin Roof Blowdown had a very deep impact on me.

I'm going to reread it this week.

I read it, too. I don't know what to think! I'm not going to spoil it, either, but WOW!

I think I read all but one. The one with his relative, Hack Holland in Rain Gods is very good, too.

Just remembered...in one of the Reacher books Reacher leaves the apartment of a Seattle lawyer, or Asst. District Attorney (I forget which), after a night of sex, and that female character is a character created by Alafair Burke, JLB's daughter in her first couple of books. It was a nod to her because on her website (or somewhere) Alafair made a comment that she loved Jack Reacher.

I don't know what to think, either...I was open-mouthed when I finished it. Very, very few books do that to me. Lord, what is he going to do next?? He hasn't said anything on his website.

My Dad thinks he's stepping aside and letting Alafair Burke have the limelight for awhile. I'm sure, though, that JLB will continue writing. I can't see him retiring, but then, he is in his 70s. So, who knows?

That's very possible. I don't see him retiring, either. Alafair is a good writer, but then I've only read two of her books (her first two). She has definitely learned from a Master, though.

I think JLB said last year that he was writing a Holland book next, though I wish he wouldn't. Helluva cliffhanger to leave the Robicheaux fans with!

He positively nails south Louisiana, though. I think if anything...he should let Lee Child finish the series with Reacher coming down and helping him. They all know one another from book tours. Lee Child has also acknowledged Robicheaux in his first or second book, I think, when Reacher or his brother made a comment about an "old detective in Louisiana" and his fat pardner.

Funny how that shakes out, eh podjo?

Yes last book was incredibly violent but oh man that was a nice change from 61 Hours. However I hope Reacher doesn't become too much of a "action hero" though.
What I really like about the book is, how Reacher have basically nothing and manage to get by with just his retirement income. It really fascinate me. Then the way the mystery got unsolved is amazing too because it always keep me guessing as well.

I heard that the next book will be a prequel between "Enemy" and "Killing Floor" and should be out in 2011 fall. I can't wait!

I will have to give Robicheaux a try!

Yes, The Glass Rainbow. DAMN fine book. One of the best I've ever read.

RabidLamn...I think Reacher came into some money in one of the earlier books. Either one of his former commanders or the guy's daughter bequeathed Reacher or gave Reacher a bunch of money. He doesn't really use it except to buy clothes when he feels like it...nice, eh?

yeah I remembered he bumped into a couple money, but I don't think he keep any expect for one or two times. In one you mentioned ("Gone Tomorrow") I think he gave money away to a man and his sister but I could be wrong.
Then other time he inherited Garber's house but end up sold it so he made some off that.
Then there was a time when a group of men were killing off former teammates. Reacher kept some of money I think.

But then he also got retirement penison as well.

Sometime I just wish my taste was as simple as his lol.

When I first saw this thread a month or two ago, I realized I had an unread Reacher book at home. Since then, I have checked almost all of the Reacher books from the library. So, thank you OP for finally getting me to read that book.
