How did Bruce Lee really die?...I've heard many different stories and theories about his death, so I would like know the truth what cause his death...

This is few of what I've heard so far from some of my friends and family members....

-got shot while filming one of his movies
-headaches
-had an allergic reaction to a painkiller
-slipped into coma and never woke up
-overdose of pills...

I think it was Brain Stroke.. yes he had lots of headaches... his wife too him in the emergency room... then he died...
Thats all I remembered.. I may be wrong...

The first time he collapsed was when he was filming the movie "Enter the Dragon" he almost died of cerebral edema, then he died which they believed was caused by cerebral edema due to a reaction in the prescription.

You know what's strange, his son died a bizarre accident while filming "The Crow". You think it's a curse?

Somebody loaded the prop gun with a real bullet instead of a blank bullet.

Yep. The bullet got stuck in the barrel of the gun and the crew didn't know about it. So, when they loaded the gun with blanks... the pressure from the blank caused the previously stuck bullet to come out. Even though the bullet wasn't as strong as before, it was still close range... making it lethal.

In 1973, Enter the Dragon was finally completed and on July 20th, 1973, after being told by doctors to rest, he didn't and sadly passed away at the age of 23, due to Cerebral Edema (swelling of the brain). Game of Death was left unfinished, but was later released with a different actor playing Bruce Lee, although the fight scenes had been finished. A funeral ceremony was held on July 25th 1973, where Bruce Lee was dressed in the Chinese outfit he wore in Enter the Dragon, and he was buried at Lake View cemetry in Seattle, on July 30th, 1973. I am a matrial arts lover so I know the history what happens to him.

His son was shot by a gun prop in North Carolina during the filming. Lot of people were there to watch his filming in N.C. and we were shock. I think someone either plan the real bullet in the prop gun or not check it.

Here the life Bio of Bruce Lee history.

The legendary kung fu action movies starring Bruce Lee have established the Little Dragon as the worlds greatest Kung Fu star. Bruce Lee could knock down a fully grown man with a punch delivered from the distance of 1 inch, as demonstrated at Long Beach's 1967 International Karate Championships.

Lee Jun Fan (known as Bruce Lee) was born in the Jackson Street Hospital in Sanfrancisco on November 27th, 1940, to Cantonese actors Hi Lo Chun and Grace Li. A year later, the family moved back to Kowloon, their family home in Hong Kong.
At the early age of 6 years old, Bruce appeared in his first film - The Beginning Of A Boy. Bruce took up fighting as a boy on the streets of Hong Kong, and at the age of thirteen, after losing what many people say was the only fight he ever lost, he began training under Siju Yip Man, a master of the Wing Chun system of Gung Fu. But six years later, he returned to San Francisco after his mother had become concerned by his street fighting activities. During 1959, Bruce stayed with a close family friend whilst doing odd jobs around the Chinese communities. Later that year he moved to Seattle to stay with another family friend - Ruby Chow, whilst working as a waiter in her restaurant. He enrolled at Edison Technical School and earned his high school diploma, whilst teaching Gung Fu on the streets and in backyards.
In 1961, Bruce enrolled at the University of Washington studying Philosophy, and teaching Gung Fu to his students.
In 1963, Bruce met his future wife - Linda Emery and moved the Jun Gung Fu Institute into a building near the University Campus. The next year, his good friend Taky Kimura took over the Institute, as Bruce left for Oakland to start a second school.
On August 17th 1964, Bruce returned to Seattle to marry Linda, then returning to Oakland to live together. After several months of teaching in Oakland, Bruce was challenged to a fight by a leading Gung Fu practitioner - Wong Man. If he lost then Bruce would stop his classes, teaching non-Orientals how to fight. Bruce immediately kicked the shit out of him, who then proceeded to leg it. Bruce ran after him but was dragged off by a friend. After the fight, Bruce began to re-evaluate his style, and the early concepts of Jeet Kune Do (The way of the intercepting fist) were produced by Bruce Lee himself and Dan Inosanto (Game of Death). It was to become Lee's unique style of fighting which involved parrying and attacking in one single manoeuvre. Later that year, a demo of Bruce in action at the International Karate Championships was given to William Dozier, the producer for Batman, who was looking to cast a part in a new TV series. Dozier was greatly impressed and Bruce flew to Los Angeles fo a screen test.
During 1967-1971, Bruce landed many parts in various films and TV series, and gave private lessons at $250 per hour to stars such as James Coburn, Steve McQueen, Jim "the afro" Kelly and the baketball giant who later appeared in Game Of Death - Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
In 1971, after huge success in the TV series "The Green Hornet", Bruce was approached by Raymond Chow for the leading role in a new film - "The Big Boss". It instantly became a huge success and grossed more than $3.5 million in less than 3 weeks. This figure was even bettered the next year when Fist Of Fury was released, further establishing Bruce Lee as a Hong Kong superstar. That same year location shots were taken in Rome, Italy for The Way of the Dragon (later known as Return of the Dragon) which Bruce wrote, directed and starred in, and included a final fight scene with Chuck Norris. Work was also began on Game of Death. The whole time I thought it was Sheryl Crow's brother who played in the movie "The Crow" but only to find out it was really Bruce's son Brandon and I don't even know if Sheryl had a brother or not..

I'm not good with actors' and actress' names inculde their last names too, so for that please forgive me..

I used to like to watch his movies a lot when I was young and remember how shock I was after learn his death in 70s time.

Yes, there're a different rumors around how he died etc. Those link, I found to support my memory.


All what I know is he had a problem with headache time to time. We suspect that it's something do with energy pills to affect his brain. Some pills, he could allergic to?

He made a lot of extreme execrise and get pills to energy his body...

SHANGHAI, China — In the southern Chinese city of Shunde, a two-hour boat ride from Hong Kong, government officials are finalizing plans to build a Bruce Lee theme park, complete with a memorial hall and a large statue of the man they call the town's favorite "son."

Never mind that the legendary Chinese American kung fu star was born in San Francisco and visited Shunde only briefly, when he was a boy of 5. Shunde is the hometown of Lee's father and grandfather, and that was enough for local resident Wang Dechao to prod the government to plow $125,000 into opening a Bruce Lee museum in an old teashop in Shunde in 2002.

Since then, more than 300,000 people, some paying $1 for admission, have come to see its collection of Bruce Lee's letters, film posters and other memorabilia.

Wang, who now works for Shunde's cultural and sports authority, hopes to move the museum to the new theme park, which he says is projected to cost $19 million and open before the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

CCTV, China's national television network, has plans to produce a 40-part documentary about Bruce Lee. Meanwhile, Bruce Lee's brother, Robert, is planning a movie about him, as is one of Lee's former students. They all have their sights set on completing the works by the Beijing Olympics.

"I believe we will see another round of Bruce Lee fever," Wang said.

Although he has been dead 33 years, Bruce Lee remains a powerful cultural figure. What if, as people have often asked, he hadn't died at age 32, barely a month before the release of his blockbuster film "Enter the Dragon"?

Some believe that film would have catapulted him into the ranks of Hollywood's superstars. But what then?

It's a question that his widow, Linda Cadwell, 61, often asks herself. "I think about it a lot — what he missed," Cadwell said in a recent interview. "Professionally, I'm sure he probably would have stayed in the film industry and the performing industry, but maybe not always as an actor, because he loved to write." Then, pausing, she added that this year, "He would be 66." Lee died in Hong Kong on July 20, 1973, from a cerebral edema. An autopsy concluded that Lee had suffered from an allergic reaction.

Lee left no will and was not a wealthy man. In those days, there weren't the movie-based action figures and video and computer games that line store shelves today.

Thanks for the link Liebling, I haven't seen the movie " The Dragon " yet, but my husband has...


The reason I brought this up cause my husband and I were watching the movie about Bruce Lee and his wife a couple of days ago, I forgot the name of the movie we were watching...I hope my husband remembers it LOL anyways was talking to my husband and friends about Bruce Lee, that's when I heard so many different stories about his death, so it got me curious..

Yes, we have seen The Dragon before and was told that it was his last movie. Yes, true - it's confusion when the rumor spread out different stories about him until the rumor was correct that he suffered severe headache time to time. He complained to his wife and friends about his severe headaches. They found the suspect is allergic to kind of pill, he took.

I think it was an allergic reaction to the painkiller he took (wasn't his) because he had a lot of back problems due to a fighting accident prior to his death. I do karate too, once in a while have to take lortab for my back, and I tell ya, those things can cause you to have some serious headaches! I do shotokan, anyone else here engaging in any other form of martial arts?

Angel, I have friend who is related to Mr. Bruce Lee. He's a cousin of hers and she said, someone was out to kill him and same goes for his son. This info came from her.

It's sad that they're gone and died so young. Both of them (father and son) are buried in Seattle (Lake View cementary) near Volunteer Park which is in Capitol Hill neighborhood. They lived in Seattle for a good number of years before they died.

All I know that Bruce Lee died from some kind of reaction to the medicine after getting a severe headache. He was doing body building that time, I think. His son died from being shot by the bullet in a movie.
