Is speaking and listening hard work for hearing people?

Oh I forgot to say, if someone talks softly I tend to rely on lip reading a fair amount to regain lost information, I don't know if that says something about my hearing or if it's normal since I saw above someone else mentioned it's quite normal to use visual cues. I have noticed since becoming...

Is speaking and listening hard work for hearing people?

If I am a little bit tired I find it very hard to speak, I know what I want to say but not able to actually make the words flow properly. This was especially bad when I had isolated myself due to depression for about a year, It was definitely very difficult to express myself and took some time...

I am all happy because, today, I learned some BSL and really liked the class. :D Very happy, it was very hard at first, but I started to get the hang of finger spelling and some signs such as, which, what, where, I, My. Basic level, yet feels incredible and I really like it! :D

What is it like to be hearing?

I think the closest example I can give is like wearing a watch, or a something which is new to your body.. at first you will always notice it, but eventually you will no longer notice it until something changes, like it has rotated or got caught on something. For example I have a desktop fan...

What is it like to be hearing?

off topic: Oh and something that popped into my head was that, about.. 9 years ago I had spent so much time online using text to communicate, barely socializing with anyone vocally and avoiding family as much as possible.. I began to lose the ability so speak fluently, often seeking to find...

What is it like to be hearing?

I tried not to read the replies to this thread yet, I was wanting to give my own account without knowingly repeat other people. Times that I dislike being able to hear: When my mother talks to me quietly, I try to lip read because she is almost inaudible sometimes, alongside background...

A question on human mind, words and thinking

I wanted to hear more actually, I can't get enough of it. Funnily enough I noticed you mention Temple Grandin, I absolutely loved reading Thinking in pictures.. Which I mentioned in a post earlier today actually.
