    Hi Charlotte

Yes it was very very quick indeed, others that were there had to come back a week later then back again another week later etc, so i believe.

Anyway on 1st day it was intro day for all candidates, or so i thought, after 2 hours they went home, i went on for hearing test, then see another audio, then another hearing test with different audio, both tests i had guy in on cd i had to read or listen what he said, why i dont know, i got NONE right, as i cant hear..result showed what i already knew im Profoundly deaf, but i guess its routine thing and thats what they have to do, Then i saw top Audio and hearing therapist Nikki Stephens.

Then i went back 2 days later to have another hearing test and sit in a reclining chair, then i was wired up with electrodes 1 in centre of head and 1 on each ear. She couldnt get a reading as i wasnt relaxed, well lets say " I was relaxed, but brain wasnt" so they got in touch with my own GP, and i had to go see him, im on diazepam 1 at night because of facial muscle spasm's, well he typed on his screen for me to take 2 at night and 1 in morning before i go and get wired up again. Well i done as was told, but still no reading, I do have dead and damaged nerves. Well after 2 hours HOOOORAY she got a little reading and she said that will be enough. Then i was back on 4th day to meet people who had cochlear Implants, I cant work out why it was just only me that was there, it started as a group of 4 candidates, oh well i should stop worrying about others. Audio and hearing therapist etc all said i well in criteria for C.I.

I will wait til 10th Nov, yes a week tomorrow and i pray for good news, if not then hey no worries, i carry on with life as i have past few years. 1 more question, how was your balance after operation? I have very very bad balance problem caused by damaged nerves and so many ops etc, it does concern me a little, hoping op DOESNT make it any worse.

ok hope we can chat soon on msn..

    Hi Stu,

I am Charlotte Aka Overthepond, I live in winchester so not far from Portsmouth, I guess you are being assessed by SOECIC in southampton? Who's your consultant? I saw you on the See hear Post about BSL (Well done, you would be better than me! as I know very little) Since i can't send you message via See hear and thought of this site!
I hope you are doing okay at the moment, If you want to chat with someone who had been through CI operation and afterwards, I wouldn't mind giving you guidance. I had one ear implanted nearly 3 months ago. However i don't have any problems as you stated but would try and help you in anyway if you wish.

    Kind regards

    Charlotte
