    Hello,
How nice it is to know you are a teacher. I have teaching in my blood, I cannot wait. I graduate with my BA in the spring then 4 quarters of deaf ed before I start applying around. I imagine it will be hard with our economy but we'll see what happens. I will hold a BA in english and a minor in history so I'm hoping I can find a teaching job teaching one or both. I also have a lot of theater experience. I wish I could start applying in advance for the fall of 11 lol. I graduate deaf ed (if all goes well!) Spring of 11. Exciting!

    Hello Shel,

My name is Michelle Jay and you just recently responded to my thread "How did you learn ASL?" I am the webmaster for StartASL.com, and I really liked your response.

I'm currently writing two ebooks--One about being an ASL student, and one about ASL grammar.

I was just wondering if I could use your reply to my thread in my ebooks. Your post really fits well with one of my topics because I discuss the best ways to learn ASL, and I think your post will greatly help the readers understand that learning in the Deaf community is truly the best way to learn.

I greatly appreciate your consideration. It is truly fascinating to learn how everyone has learned ASL so differently.

Feel free to reply to me via email: michelle@startasl.com.

    Best regards,

    Michelle Jay

right ear, injury, age, etc. Left ear surgery, cholesteatoma. Not a compliment so much as a thank you, Shel. Thank you. Of course, it was complimentary, and meant to be, but overall, I really was trying to say thanks.

I am doing pretty well. Really, I wanted to commend you for some of your recent posts. I think that you have shown unparralelled restraint and have offered some wonderful insight. You were one of the first to befriend me here on AD. You were born deaf and I am late deaf, I have read what you went through in your younger years and I am only now experiencing some of this. I found a haven and understanding here in AD, and its hard to see posts by "The Audist". You rock, lady... thanks so much.

Again, it is rainy and chilly. Despite living in Maryland for 10 years, I can never get used to chilly days in May after growing up in one of the hottest cities in the USA. According to my friends in Phx, it has already been 105 plus degrees for a week there. To me, May represents warm and sunny days but this year, May seems intent on staying gloomy and chilly. Forecast calls for sunny skies tmw but with temps in the 60s. Dunno if that's good or not.

I feel detached from Alldeaf due to the Byrdie incident. I guess I really thought he was a friend and knowing that he is not dead makes me miss his posts here on AD even more than if he was dead. It is like being forbidden from having a huge lolipop and it is within my reach. I guess it would have been easier if he actually died. Someone told me that I am in need of closure but as the days go by, I am starting to accept the fact that there may never be closure. Hopefully as time passes, the wounds...
