Hey there "weapon on mass percussion" - I play "The Box" - and congas ......drums were too hard with the massive hearing loss. Nice to know another percussionist -

I didn't say I believe that. I just know people that follow that belief system. It stems from the pre-Industrial era where every hands are expected to work. My grandparents believed in this up until their last child in the 1980s. Once you were able to walk, you were expected to do errands and do farm-works, and soon as you were able to do labour-- (around 8-12) you were expected to get a job with hourly wages.
I know of a few that still have that belief system. My mother, thankfully, does not.
Addendum: To illustrate the point... my first bottle of liqour was Christmas-- when I was 7. My mother got mad at them.
