    Sorry about that... the response I gave was off-topic:

    I didn't say I believe that. I just know people that follow that belief system. It stems from the pre-Industrial era where every hands are expected to work. My grandparents believed in this up until their last child in the 1980s. Once you were able to walk, you were expected to do errands and do farm-works, and soon as you were able to do labour-- (around 8-12) you were expected to get a job with hourly wages.

    I know of a few that still have that belief system. My mother, thankfully, does not.

    Addendum: To illustrate the point... my first bottle of liqour was Christmas-- when I was 7. My mother got mad at them.

    Hey- so here are a few questions. Try to answer them in longer sentences (like a phone interview).

    What is the biggest challenge you've had with your son?

    What has been the best part of having a deaf son when you are hearing?

    Do you have an insight you can give to hearing parents with hearing children after having a deaf child?

    Has having a deaf son encouraged you to learn ASL?

    Anything else you'd like to add?
